He's wasn't exactly 'full armour tank' as he only has frozen heart but you're still right, he had an easier time against the two mages than the AD champion he's building to counter.
I mean, both of them are burst mages are not dps mages. Whatever the build of sion, he will have too much hp for them to get trhough, and he had mr with mythic item. On the other hand, bel veth deals true and % current hp dmg. THe comparison is not really fair
