As classy and tasteful, yet unforgiving and reverent, yet irreverent. Carcass never cared what you think. But they’ll be disappointed when you don’t think. So THINK motherfuckers!! For Carcass, this is their pop song, yet its purity is unassailable, and it still manages to be brutal, nasty, mean, honest, compelling, and addictive. Because the world, does not belong to you!! They still make all other metal, save for Gojira, look desperate et sans sanguine. Just trying to be what Carcass actually is. The band that musicians, and especially metal musicians, love to quietly hate, and love them even more quietly. Like the disdain one might retain from desiring an existence as Burt Reynolds, and you are part way there, but there’s a particular guy who has it nailed, without trying, and doesn’t even know who Mr. Reynolds is. And that guy reminds you that what you want to do has been done and better, perhaps better than you will ever be at conveying music and spirit through arrangement, inflection, temperment, and temperament. Hail Carcass. And how many churches should be raped by monsters who rape monsters? Reality is that organized religion is arguably the single most profound vehicle through which despotism proliferates, so fuck ‘em. But, don’t. It doesn’t help THAT much. Maybe just a hair. Yeah, it helps.
