Well if he doesn't season it, then of course it won't taste that good. Best thing about this dish/meal is that you can put whatever you like into it. Also use some sauce. Ketchup goes well with it.
There is also a german version of it called "Arme Ritter". It can be translated to "poor knight" since its a leftover meal and you can use every type of leftover bread for it. The main difference between your dish and Arme Ritter is that you dont only use egg but a mixture of egg and milk to soak the bread slices in. What you put on top of it is totally up to you but i love 1 part of brown sugar and 1 part of maple sirup mixed ontop of the slice into a sugary and heavily aromatic paste. My second most liked version would be plum jam and a cinamon/sugar mixture sprincled ontop of it.
We call them poor knights in Finland too! "Köyhät ritarit". 😃 We usually use stale sweet bun, some dip them in only milk, some use milk and egg and a ton of butter for frying. It's a sweet dish, I might put some jam and whipped cream on top.

Hi there, I'm from Poland and I also know this breakfast and I'm a big fan of it. We call it "jajo chlebek" (egg bread basically) and this breakfast hits hard with memories. A representative of Hungarians is here, Maybe try the followings instead of bundáskenyér: - Lángos with garlic, cheese and sour cream - paraszt reggeli - pretty similar to the one Romanian breakfast you made in one of your earlier videos, however we maybe use more sausage - zsíros kenyér - bread with lard (Gourmet people should use duck lard cuz that's a whole different dimension) with purple onion rings on it and some sprinkles of paprika powder (obviously you should also sprinkle some salt on the lard) - Tepertő/töpörtyű - in any kind of form such as Tepertős pogácsa or Tepertőkrémes kenyér also with purple onion and maybe some tomato, and sweet pepper - Tejberizs or Tejbegríz with cocoa powder (I'm not sure if it's fully Hungarian but it's served at quite a lot of places for breakfast) Also if you make Bundáskenyér, you may use some traditional Hungarian horseradish-mayo sauce or piros arany tó give some more flavour, and sour cream, cheese or even ham to make it more calorie rich (if the dripping oil from the bread would not be enough ).
in turkey it's also common for breakfast. we usually make it from leftover breads not the new ones, this is a way to use up stale bread. also sometimes we add milk to the eggs.

Love you hungarians ....I love how all the Hungarian's noticed the joke and I didn't even catch it until I read the comments. lol (from the states here)
I'm not from Hungary, but I have Polish roots. I didn't know French toast for the longest time (and I honestly don't like it), but this is a great dinner alternative for me! At home, we used to take a garlic clove, halved it and rubbed the cut surface over the fried bread to transfer the flavor. So delicious!
Yup, thats what you should do! As soon as the video started, I was like, I’m sure he will forget the garlic… 😄 Add some fresh veggies, and it is yummy!
We have this in the Czech republic too, its called chleba ve vajíčku, i put a little bit of oil in a pan and fry it bot until golden brown but until it looks like scrambled eggs and its very yummy
I'm Serbian and we eat this as well in our country they are called "Przenice" and you make it the same way but you put milk on the eggs as well so it's easier to eat
@@Junip3r_ Seems that way, though I still suggesting learning the meaning of the words you use, especially one that is so commonly associated with prejudice of all kinds.
Wow, I never would have guessed, that you pick this from Hungary. As a Hungarian, I never eat it. Some sandwiches, pastry or jam with bread are more common, IMHO. Yes, please redo this! Test pastry! Kakaós csiga and túrós batyu!
We all call it differently. Here in Italy, it's just "Pane fritto." Essentially, fried bread. It could be a good replacement to a meal if someone got no idea about what the cook.
Im hungarian and honestly bundás kenyér is crap. He should make an “easter” breakfast. It is basically veggies, braided cake, boiled eggs, tied ham. You can dip the braided cake into hot chocolate, it is extremely delicious. Personally a way I would eat that is: but butter on a slice of braided cake, put the ham, eggs and veggies on it. It is simple but man its delicious.
I'm Turkish and that's what my mum did growing up. I absolutely loved it. But the bread we use is usually different. Using Turkish Pide (for my fellow Turks I mean ramazan pidesi since that's the type of Turkish bread which for some reason (other than bow delicious it is) became the standard bread European Turks eat.
@@godofchaoskhorne5043 that sounds so lovely! my family and i get fresh pide from a turkish store sometimes, it's super delicious! i'll make sure to try it when it's fried with eggs like in the video 😋😋 my family always uses old "semmeln" or "brötchen" (small bread buns from germany)
In austria we make a sweet version of that called "Bofesen". You basically make a jam or jelly sandwich covered and clued together by the egg bath, when you fry it, the egg acts as a glue to hold in the jelly inside so you really cant spill it. You can cover it with sugar dust for an extra kick but mostly it is sweet enaugh. You really can take any jam or jelly you like. My grandmother mostely made it with homemade strawberry or apricot jam. It tastes pretty much how you would expect it. Fried egg feels weird in combination with sweet jam i guess but it's a brutally good desert. Just not healthy.
Ah yes, huge nostalgia factor with this one. My mom used to make these on weekend mornings with sweet black tea. I've never eaten it with sugar. My favourite way is to put delikát in the eggs and eat it with ketchup and mayo or mustard. I wouldn't rate it higher than a 6 though, a good Hungarian breakfast for me is eggs scrambled with onions and Hungarian sausage, tomatoes and TV paprika on the side with fresh bread.
I've had the same thought. It's not really Hungarian, and I've eaten bundás kenyér salty and not sweet my whole life (just like my friends do). As a Hungarian breakfast I would take an omelet with Hungarian sausage and fresh white bread, maybe some fresh paprika. 🌶️
My hungarian girlfriend always puts also shives into the egg (not suitable for sweet version). And when I eat it, I always make a regular sandwich out of it with cheese and/or some sausage. (Plus in Hungary you always eat some {hot} paprika, tomatoes and onions beside)
Fun fact: This food is so popular in Poland, most of polish people (including me like 3 months ago) that it's regular french toast. Even when I sayed to my sister that the french toast is usually sweet food she was like "ow that's weird"
It checks out, though. It's very specifically Hungarian, and it is a breakfast food. (And omelette already appeared in a different Hungarian Breakfast episode)
My dad who is Greek use to make these for breakfast but he added a sauce on top with scrambled eggs, the sauce was cooked down tomato paste, garlic and oregano. It was fire, especially when sometime he would add pieces of Greek sausage mixed in with the eggs.
Not to offense but Hungarian orthography kinda tricky that people often confuse, since "s" pronounced as "sh" and they have no idea how to pronounce "sz", they thought it's pronounced s and z seperately though. Btw I like Hungarian language 🇭🇺
My absolute favorite breakfast food. We have it in the Balkans as well, albeit with an added splash of milk to the eggs. Goes amazing with some feta cheese on the side.
I am Hungarian and I understand you completely. I don't like bunda bread either, but there are many very delicious dishes in our country, for example lecsó, goulash soup, lángos, and many others. I recommend you try them because they are really delicious. I would love to see it in a video. Bon appetit!! ;)

Love you hungarians ....I love how all the Hungarian's noticed the joke and I didn't even catch it until I read the comments. lol (from the states here)
It actually looks pretty good.
as a hungarian: you can also add a splsh of milk into the egg and you need to put sour cream with garlic nd chees on top. now thats a good food
👍
Yes
Thats good
M0Vv go ugh Cho
H$!?’
my mom did it with ONLY milk and bread, it tastes great. tbh my mom is wack
Yesss omg but my family use the garlic minced and puts it in the egg mixture (im from poland)
Yup, thats what you should do! As soon as the video started, I was like, I’m sure he will forget the garlic… 😄 Add some fresh veggies, and it is yummy!
Hey, first person I’ve met like me, polish roots
We have it for dinner occasionally too
🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺
We have this in the Czech republic too, its called chleba ve vajíčku, i put a little bit of oil in a pan and fry it bot until golden brown but until it looks like scrambled eggs and its very yummy
I'm Serbian and we eat this as well in our country they are called "Przenice" and you make it the same way but you put milk on the eggs as well so it's easier to eat
Bruh the jokes about us being hungry at all times is still not getting old
Agreed, in our language the ciuntry is called Magyarország
The most stereotypical joke to make of Hungarians, but he was at least being honest about the food, I accept his apology.
You should check the definition of stereotype/stereotypical xD Cuz that's not the word you're looking for.

As a Hungarian, bundás kenyér is still my comfort food to this day
Are you hungry
@@Airill2510 you are so funny
I am shocked that Google Translate decided that the English name for this dish is fur bread.🙄
As a Romanian, I am a bit surprised that the Hungarian breakfast is just fried bread dipped in mixed egg yolks.
@@ThatsnewsTV I mean that is the direct translation. Bundás means fur/furry and kenyér is bread sooo
Wow, I never would have guessed, that you pick this from Hungary. As a Hungarian, I never eat it. Some sandwiches, pastry or jam with bread are more common, IMHO.
Yes, please redo this! Test pastry! Kakaós csiga and túrós batyu!
it's really common in serbia :) or, was when I was a kid
Same here I never eat bundás kenyér for breakfast, maybe for vacsora but never for breakfast.
YES
kakaós csiga is literally the goat 💯
Our comfort food, tejbegríz is my suggestion 😋
my mom does this exact breakfast once a week its so heartwarming
We all call it differently. Here in Italy, it's just "Pane fritto." Essentially, fried bread. It could be a good replacement to a meal if someone got no idea about what the cook.
Nooo Ive been waiting for so long for you to do the Hungarian breakfast, but a 4 breaks my heart
what do you expect it's literally just a egg yolk dipped bread, he could've used another iconic breakfast
@@virus-fz3zh i didnt say anything about the bundaskenyer😂
Im hungarian and honestly bundás kenyér is crap. He should make an “easter” breakfast. It is basically veggies, braided cake, boiled eggs, tied ham. You can dip the braided cake into hot chocolate, it is extremely delicious. Personally a way I would eat that is: but butter on a slice of braided cake, put the ham, eggs and veggies on it. It is simple but man its delicious.
@@gaborcsizmadia5695 but what is the typical traditional Hungarian breakfast?

I’m certainly happy about it
Végre, még sosem láttam magyarokat itt.
Moroccan here, my mom used to make this when bread becomes a bit hard to eat or passed 2 days since it was last baked
One of my favourite. breakfast. I like it with raspberry jam most.
i'm not hungarian, but my mum always makes this when we have bread/ buns that are already super stale, so we dont have to throw it away. i love it!
I'm hungarian, in hungarian: magyar vagyok
*bread or buns
I love rubbing some garlic on the bread after frying it. It tastes so good.
I could see that
Yeah its good
will try
yes that's how i know it
igen en azt szoktam csinalni
Thank you for not putting an extremely obnoxious, overly loud and extraordinarily disgusting CRUNCH noise as you bit into that first one.
Yes!!! That IS the typical Hungarian breakfast!!

My mom make me this recipe every day!❤
Fun fact: This food is so popular in Poland, most of polish people (including me like 3 months ago) that it's regular french toast. Even when I sayed to my sister that the french toast is usually sweet food she was like "ow that's weird"
Same we have no sweet french toast
Ikr my grandma called it "fryty"
Its an east european dish
Czech republic too but i would put a little bit of ketchup as a child on top of it, cant really imagine eating it dry.
Yes same
Out of all the iconic dishesh you made bundás kenyér wow.💀
It ain't even a breakfast dish
Nem vagyok egy nagy nacionalista evő, szóval nem értek ehhez, de mi lehetne a magyar reggeli? Sokat gondolkodtam rajta
@@shaggy7600 I think it depends on the family... we most of the time eat it for breakfast, and sometimes maybe for dinner
It checks out, though.
It's very specifically Hungarian, and it is a breakfast food.
(And omelette already appeared in a different Hungarian Breakfast episode)
"Kényer"💀
Nostalgia coming through hard
Incredibly popular in Bulgaria as well, I have eaten soooo muuuuch of those 😀
My dad who is Greek use to make these for breakfast but he added a sauce on top with scrambled eggs, the sauce was cooked down tomato paste, garlic and oregano. It was fire, especially when sometime he would add pieces of Greek sausage mixed in with the eggs.
sounds nice
You can also use ketchup
that sounds delicious
I remember back then in Bulgaria making these ones but just in oil with sour milk, these were god like
damn
I'm from hurgary too 😀I was surprised with your pronounciation because it was really good.
Not to offense but Hungarian orthography kinda tricky that people often confuse, since "s" pronounced as "sh" and they have no idea how to pronounce "sz", they thought it's pronounced s and z seperately though. Btw I like Hungarian language 🇭🇺
