When some body wish other on their festivals its understood by other faith person that its a courtesy.I wish happy eid to my muslim friends, and they understand that i dont believe in prophet or eid, but its a courtesy.I even had mutton and sewai on eid with a muslim roommate long back in early 2000.I have christian and muslims working under me i am obligated as their boss to officially wish my employees of different faiths on their respective festivals.
Wishing is a part of social ethics; not a part of belief system. We must not be of the opinion that wishing another on their festivals is equivalent to believing in their faith. Man must strive to live peacefully and humbly in society. A society is the sub-unit of a nation, which is diverse yet interconnected. When the members of a society acknowledge the diversity, despite holding different beliefs, they nurture a healthy atmosphere of open interaction, mutual learning and peaceful coexistence

I am Christian and when my Muslim friends are wishing me a Happy Christmas, my heart starts to sing and almost burst with love and affection. This happens because a know that their faith is different from mine, but they are showing me that they want me to be happy and fulfilled in what I belief. This is one of the most generous and loving acts possible. Their well wishing makes me think that their faith is also a faith full of respect and love. In this we are deeply connected, believer to beliefer, human to human, generous person to generous person. When we are thinking and acting petty we make our faith look petty.
