It's nice to see someone actually give a damn about these old movie games and not turn it into a cash grab
Yeah this game absolutely shines with the love and attention given by the devs.

Gone are the days of LOTR movie games
It helps that the devs didn’t try to adapt a movie script but Instead made their own original story while using the setting, lore, and characters.
RoboCop 1 was OK but The RoboCop original movie sequels were horrible with a big H. The propaganda was so subtle that they almost cheered for a Soviet victory of the Cold War.
RoboCop: Rogue City is a showcase of how the studio has redeemed itself from its past endeavors. Having Peter Weller reprise his role as RoboCop adds on so much. Gamers, give AA titles like this a chance-it’s definitely worth it!” 🤖🎮🔥
What do you mean "past endeavors"?
Their last game, the Terminator game was awesome. Granted, the RAMBO game before that was absolute garbage, but what else have they done that may be considered a poor attempt?
@@ZMA_831 That Terminator game is definitely a hidden gem. They were able to seamlessly weave in their own story within the Terminator canon. That alone makes it worth it to play the game.

@@TheLittleNoobThatCould this! Great idea!
Was thinking the same thing
Also I really liked how the attention to detail in this game was nailed on the head, as every time Robocop gets out his car, you see his foot, then only the top half of his body, a nice Easter egg as when they filmed the films, Peter Weller had to film those scenes in his car and getting out of his car wearing only the top half of the Robocop costume, while just being in his pants below, because he couldn’t fit in the car fully suited up. So a bit of cinema magic, they would show his foot touch the floor below the car door, then a top shot when he would get out the car not revealing his lower half, and I love how the game replicates that.
I never knew that! God that's so fucking cool!
I played the demo, and what impressed me was how much these devs did with so little budget. Because it shows that game is low budget, but you can feel every dollar was carefully considered. They nailed gameplay, AND they nailed the atmosphere. When you are in it, it feels like a sidestory to the 1987 movie. Havent played the full game yet but i can tell you this game deserves all the praise. I cant even imagine what this studio can do with full AAA budget. Probably cause robocop to make a full return in popularity.

I just finished the game game and for me, it hit the right balance of exploring and taking breaks to do side missions before it through you into heavy combat. The story was great and it was just a great game all around. Nice work Teyon!

@@thomasfalcon6350So worth doing then with all the iconography of John Rambo and a solid original story not seen in the old films. It would work. Nothing's wrong with being a Far Cry clone, if that's the inspiration so be it. I could say the same about this new Robocop game that it's just another mech hybrid skin from things like Titanfall or Armoured Core. All that's needed is some thought put into it which has been sorely lacking from devs in the last few years.
It's really interesting how they managed to make the slower paced movement work. The FPS trend lately has been high speed acrobatics but it makes way more sense for RoboCop to move a bit slowly and deliberately. I'm usually a big fan of complex movement but this still looks pretty fun.
First it was shmovement then boots on the ground, back to shmovement, and back to boots on the ground, and now it's starting shmovement again

These last 2 games they've made are full of passion and love, Terminator Resistance was so much fun I played that game non stop for weeks when I first discovered it. If a game is fun, then that's all that matters. I'm almost happy that these games don't have big triple As budgets because it feels more retro, it has a certain ''stifness'' to it, like it's not as smooth as most modern games. And for me it's kind of the reason why Terminator and Robocop feel the way they feel. It's like a perfect mix of retro and modern design, lovely.
@@SENATORPAIN1 They are not average lmfao. I dont finish "average" games. The Terminator game was better than any FPS Ubisoft put out in the last decade sans Farcry 3. It was in the same league as Alien Isolation as far as liscened games go and till at least a solid 8/10.
@@SENATORPAIN1 Average in terms of mechanics, perhaps. They are absolute love letters to fans of the franchises, and manage to be GOOD games in the way that they provide fun and entertainment. One example of the care given to the source material that I don't see many people talking about. Not only do they recreate some shots, they recreate the stop-motion animation look some of the robots have during cut scenes. The first few times it was subtle so I didn't quite put two and two together, but as more robots start showing up it finally dawned on my what they were going for. Someone had to have busted their butt lowering the frame rate to the right amount while painstakingly doing the animation work in those frames so it has the alien quality the animation in the movie had.

Nice to see Robocop getting some love in the video games realm.
Pretty much spot on. For an indie company that's primarily made sidescrollers and simple DS games, this is damn impressive. Honestly, I fully believe that Terminator Resistance's "Infiltrator Mode" was their way of prototyping Rogue City in a way, because the gameplay is pretty much identical imo. Down to Robocop's Aim overlay being similar to Terminator Vision and the enemy grabbing/throwing mechanic. And, much like Terminator Resistance, I expect Teyon to eventually start adding more content as time goes on, like they did with Infiltrator Mode and Annihilation Line.
I think a multiplayer mode would be fun, different colored robocops running around shooting each other soaking up bullets, throwing objects at each other, and you could throw in bad guys into the mix to shoot at while you compete for highest score.
Honestly, I hope they give Rambo another go sometime. Applying everything they learned along the way. They seem to be the developers doing 80's media into video games, which is really unique and interesting.

TR wouldnt make sense considerimg the plot is that it was all a dream/program.
@@aprofondir a Blade Runner game should be a rpg, or a immersive sim, deus ex one is the closest we got to a Blade runner game
Just imagine, if all movie-licensed game would be done at this level.
Holy shit ❤
and to think all they had to do was take their time and release it 36 years after the fact instead of 1 month later lol
Lmao "this level" you mean trash? What is remotely good about this game? The gameplay is worse than fps games from 2006, it literally looks and feels like an arcade game. A real movie-licensed game that's actually good, is Peter Jackson King kong the original game. That is a masterpiece. To even say this is on the same level is a joke. Oh Americans, how little you need to get thoes tiny brains going
Having Gman review your shooter and the largest complaint he has is he wishes he could play it more is big, now him saying that about your movie licensed game is absolutely a wonder to behold.
Oh thank goodness... I've had my eye on this little project for a hot minute now. Glad to see it's being recognized as worthwhile.
I love how he always finds a way to put our moms in the joke.
Right? I'm always waiting for it lol
He literally talks about my mom more than my dad does
This was one of my favorites along with the Doom 3 one.
FELLOW MEGADETH FAN SPOTTED 🔥🔥🔥💯‼️💯‼️🔥🥶
@@MatthewShepyour moms to busy talkin about her black bf
This feels like something from the golden era of gaming
I love this game! I really hope they make another one or a combination game of RoboCop versus Terminator. That would be awesome! Bring back great games from great creators!
I just reached Downtown for the second time and met the old man. Already got all the achievements, except for the story ones and the cat, turret, and 10 minutes one. This game has been an absolute joy to play. I'm huge RoboCop fan, so I hope this gets a sequel. Teyon has done a phenomenal job.
What a redemption arc this is. Respect for the devs, they showed us how such a game needs to be done!
Redemption arc of the century. Genuinely wholesome to see people want more movie game adaptations from these devs
@@alexsilva28 yep. I don't mind them tackling rambo again, but then again, too many comparisons would just be made towards far cry.
I remember being enthralled by the original Robocop films as a kid, so this is like a belated dream come true. Much appreciation to Weller, too - the guy basically spent a good bit of the last 20 years working on his graduate degrees and teaching (including doing that stuff for the History Channel). Yet here he returns, in his 70s no less, to reprise the voice of a much-beloved character.
everyone who comes to his class is there for robocop, he knows it, he owns it
This is a game only for people who fan-boyed way too hard over RoboCop
@Colin_Lawlor_Audio I think that's a lot more appropriate to say about MWIII and players who own a console only for CoD.

You say that Rogue City is trying to pretend that Robocop 3 ever existed, but it really doesn't. It directly sets up the events of Part 3 with the Japanese company looking to take over OCP after the Old Man dies. also explaining what happened to The Old Man.
Yeah it’s 2.5, though I joke that it’s RoboCop 3 because I disliked the third film 😁
So, so far these guys have done Terminator and Robocop. They need to do Predator, Blade Runner and Alien to complete the 80s iconic nostalgia. I'd love to see them tackle Judge Dredd, with an option to play through as classic Dredd or the 2012 version (I'd lean towards the 2012 version). I shared your concern after playing the demo GMan, so I'm glad to see that it's not as bad as all that.
We could have a proper Predator Game by these people
(Hunting Grounds dosen't count)
Demolition Man, Total Recall, many classic 80s IP seriously need a game or two. Those movies had perfect world building material that can work so well in a game form.
It's a little early to think about what their next project will be but I'd love to see them take on Dredd (2012) and their own spin on the Die Hard Trilogy (1996).
I think Die Hard would be quite boring (much too human and mortal protagonists for a game, and those limiting traits are what made Die Hard compelling in the first place), though I agree with the potential for Dredd. Punisher, also. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves has massive potential.
Id like to see their take on the Starship Troopers license
@@brianbaumgartner7223Nothing wrong with fighting humans. Actually I'm tired of the fact that every game now has to be about robots, zombies or mythical monsters.
@@brianbaumgartner7223Die Hard would an amazing game if it's something like Max Payne games.
Hilarious editing on this review!
Just picked up the game before the video was even done! Thanks I had no idea about this. Can’t wait to try it.
"Dead or alive, you are coming-"
GMan's usage of dad joke double entendres just keep getting more entertaining, especially after becoming a dad himself 😂
Teyon's redemption arc has been beautiful to watch.
Fun story: when I was a kid my local video shop had a couple arcade machines that I always played. Golden Axe and Robocop. One day my uncle gave me a jar of 20c coins and asked if he could drive me to the video store so I could finally beat Robocop.
I kept pumping coins in and was getting further then I had ever gotten when I started to need to pee really bad. But I couldn’t leave the game and lose my progress so I just held on and kept at it.
Fews minutes later I bolt out of the store to my uncle who was smoking ciggies waiting in his car for me with my pants fully soaking in pee. I never got to finish Robocop coz of peeing my pants and my uncle laughed at me for weeks about it.
I got so good at Robocop arcade that I could finish it on one credit back then - vital to get 100% on the shooting range stages. It gets crazy difficult especially the last 3 stages, probably impossible if you've pissed yourself.
