My friend Jimmy Brooks fell out of his tree stand about 10 years ago. He became a paraplegic for the next 8 years, confined to a wheelchair and at the mercy of others. Despite all this Jimmy still hunted with a retrofitted rifle compliments of Buckmaster. He was a warrior! Jimmy Brooks passed away about 2 years ago. He left a legacy of true grit and determination! RIP Jimmy!

Hello Craig, my injury is a little more like yours seeing as I fell down a 100 foot cliff face. Thankfully I had two friend's with me at the time of my accident. Now Nathan I can also relate to your fall seeing as after my fall I had to learn to walk, feed myself, go to the bathroom, but those thing's happen after a 3 week coma and a Traumatic Brain Injury. I know that we both went through the same stuff through our Father and our Savior we are both walking and going through life like we did before the accident's. The one major thing that kept me moving forward was that I remembered where I was and I wanted to be back there again. I remember the wheel chair, then the pick up walker, then quad cane, and a few day's latter single point cane. As you probably know that single point cane is left behind more often then it come's with us. Keep on following the lead of our Father and our Savior will never steer you wrong.

How does a harness work? Is it attached to the tree, itself, or to part of the stand? If the seat of the stand fails, are you just left hanging by your harness?

Exactly! That's how animals feel when you hunt them. Just like he make the animals suffer. I don't feel sorry for him neither feel any respect. A hunter crying for pain is just karma he has it coming his way .
God put animals on this earth so that humans and other animals could eat. Hunting for food is a right of life, hunting for sport is what you should have a problem with, which this video doesn’t provide enough context to say these guys are doing🤷♂️😊

Me and my grandfather use a double stand for bow and gun and trust me, there safe as long as the straps are tight and you pay attention

I fell 22’ back in 2018.. 3 broken ribs, ruptured spleen and my crossbow broke in half.. hurt and had me laid up for about a month.
I find this crazy because he is my intro to business teacher at an alternative school and just now seeing this I realized he was probably the coolest teacher I ever had

Beloved Brother Nathan, I am so thankful to hear your story. More so the Glory you give to God our Father for interceding on your behalf, for giving you the strength, and courage you needed at that moment so you would not give up. For helping you to understand that if you did your part HE, your God would do what you COULD NOT.
See I'm a retired firefighter/EMT. My last fire ended in and explosion that was so big it damage homes more than a 1/4 of a mile away. I was in the center of that explosion. For the Glory of God I am alive to see my three children grown, married and my fourth grand child come into the world. I should have died that day but God protected me. Looking back I see all the ways HE has worked through me. (not my will BUT HIS not my GLORY BUT HIS)
I DO understand how Humbling it is to have to learn to walk all aver again. I had to learn to talk, eat, even potty and bath all over again. I sustained a head injury among other injuries, so I DO understand these things.
I think YOU ARE BRAVE, because....you allowed God to take control instead of fighting for control for yourself. Letting go and giving it to God is where TRUE BRAVERY comes into a persons life.

I went into a tree stand and didn’t know that the Rachet straps weren’t on and the only thing that held me in the tree stand was the tree that had grown around metal
That is lucky also check ur things when u go out
I was in NC in the Burlington area and remember seeing this on the news and one of my hunting buddies had hear of it aswell. I have fallen 20 ft two times and walk away with small injury but one of two my last fall it got my hip and lower back. After I got over my hurt I told every hunter the safety belts will save your life because after my falls I wore them Everytime I went up. 1st stand fall made a mistake stood up take coat off back off the front of the stand. 2nd time I was invited to a lease that had wooden ladder stand and before I could strap my self the corner broke off due to rotten. Hunting friends be safe and always have your belt on.
I fell out of a 20 feet tree stand this year and I'm 10 but my dad was on the ground when I fell and that was 3 weeks ago :(

I guess I needed this story, I am facing back surgery in a few weeks, they tell me I have severe nerve damage. I am afraid of what may happen. But you have helped me through your testimony. THIS JUST HAPPENED TO MY NEIGHBOR AND IT BROKE HIS BACK TOO
As a kid I had a sociopath kid next door who would torment me from time time. A few years ago I looked him up, figuring he’d wound up in prison. Turns out his fate was much worse than prison - he fell out of a tree stand 15 years ago, but unlike this guy, he was totally paralyzed and died due to associated complications a couple years ago.
That is so sad
for him & for you.

I fell out of my stand one time. Thank goodness it was a ground blind. I didn't get hurt, but I spilled my damned beer all over myself. Never want to do that again.

Man idk about tree stands anymore. My dad told me how dangerous it could be and i took my hunters ed class. I leaned more about it i been hunting with my dad since I was little. Now i understand the real dangers it can be sometimes
He is a definitely a true believer that God is the only One who saved him from that fall...and so am I! true believer!!!

My grandpa broke his back during his hunting had to get up and drive his fore wheeler to his house 3 miles away. The drop was 20 feet.

I’m 13 and I wear a safety harness any time I’m above 15 foot in a stand
I'm also 13 I go hunting we have a harness that I normally use but luckily we got like a really sturdy tree stand that we've been using for four years luckily I haven't had any accidents yet anyway and they're all like the edge of the woods because where we live we have deer everywhere so they're on the edge of the woods so I wouldn't really have to crawl anywhere if this happened I'm sorry I'm going to rant
