When I was a boy the cry of the church was, âJesus is coming!â All through my teenage years, every evangelist who came to preach in my fatherâs church had a stirring message about the soon return of Christ. Even today their sermons remain burned in my memory: âThe Bible says Christ will come like a thief in the night, when you least expect him. It will happen in the twinkling of an eye, with the sound of a trumpet. You must be ready at all times.â
The powerful cry, âJesus is coming!â is seldom heard in Godâs house today. Very few Christians live with a sense of expectancy, looking and yearning for Jesusâ return. How has this happened?
The New Testament gives many warnings that mockers will appear in the last days, ridiculing the doctrine of Christâs coming. Peter writes, âThere shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creationâ (2 Peter 3:3-4). This mocking can be heard today: âWhat does anyone have to fear? All things continue just as they always have. There is no reason to fear a Judgment Day, because it simply isnât coming.â
The devil has whispered a different lie into the ears of many believers. That lie is, âChrist has delayed his coming.â Jesus addresses this in Matthew 24 in his parable about being ready for his return: âBe ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
âBut and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teethâ (Matthew 24:45-51).
Jesus is speaking here about believers, identifying them as servants. One of these servants is faithful while the other is evil. What makes the second servant evil in the Lordâs eyes? According to Jesus, it is something âhe shall say in his heartâ - that âthe Lord delays his coming.â In other words, heâs convinced Jesus wonât come suddenly or unexpectedly. He has been instructed to âwatch,â to âbe ready,â âfor the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think notâ (Luke 12:40). But instead this servant eases his conscience by believing Satanâs lie.
Once he accepts the devilâs lie, here is the fruit: Because he sees no need to watch for Christâs coming, he doesnât see any need to make peace with his fellow servants. There is no need to preserve unity at home, at work, in the church, no need to make things right with others. Instead, he feels he could âsmite his fellow servants,â accusing them, holding grudges and destroying othersâ reputations. This servant seeks only to play, to have pleasure, to live with no conscience. In short, he wants both Jesus and the world.

Marta Altheide a part of me wants to go out and buy everything to be prepared for anything that might happen. I want to hole up in my house & ride it out. And then, like a smack on the back of the head from my dad (lol), Iâm reminded that God has always taken care of me, in all times, good and bad. If Iâm to eat, my Father will send food. If itâs time for me to die, itâs my time. I can go into the street with nothing and it wouldnât matter. I have to remember that I can have a supermarket in my basement, but it could all be wiped out in an instant. God will provide in all situations. It eases any fear I have.

Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (Acts 2:36)

I have been following him for over 30 years. He had a house down the street from Keith Greens, Last Days ministries. His house was gorgeous, he left for the people of New York. Gave his all for the Lord. My sister lived so close to these guys, to me it was another world visiting there in Lindale Tx. I did get to go to Keith Greens memorial service. Leonard Ravinhill was a speaker. Two more great speakers are David Hocking and Chuck Missler. All three of these guys are on YTube. Leonard passed away after a car accident 3 or 4 years ago. Sad Day!

Itâs important to read and know your scriptures for discerning. It tells us in his last days to be separate come out from among them unless you want to suffer whatâs coming on them. This is when the tears are being bundled first, sadly, thereâs not too much discernment in the Scriptures talked about for the end times. If you read your Bible, King James, youâll get more understanding here on the videos,
