It needed to be much more clearly a joke, and it needed to be over quicker. He lingered on it long enough to disrupt the tone of the match irreparably, making it far worse, imo.

@John Stonik I totally agree with your sentiment, but not in this application of it. Yes, both sides being scummy makes it an even ground. The issue here is that the pause was entirely noble, whereas the response was decidely less so. At least, that's the way I see it.

In the Mew2King DSR situation that is definitely a case of Gentleman's Rule, which is if both players agree to play on a particular stage, even if it's an illegal one, they can. By M2K's opponent's not protesting they are agreeing to play on that stage.
I've always wondered, if they agree to play in an absolutely banned stage (e.g pokefloats), can they? is there a rule against it?

Yeah like the players are allowed to gentleman to a previously won stage. If he accepts the stage at the time he shouldn't be allowed to go back on that after he loses
My friend and I were at local back in last November and he fought against a TO volunteer and lost game one, then next game the TO just chose a stage when it was supposed to be my friends counter pick, but he didn’t say anything and played the game and lost. While I think the TO was a jerk it was my Friends fault for not saying anything.
I agree with y’all that it’s unfair to play out the game and then only after your loss call for a replay. However if I was unaware it was against the rules and somebody tells me after the set, yea I’d complain.

By agreeing to play a stage that you shouldn't have, you're basically attempting to give yourself two chances at that game; if you win, you take the W, and if you lose, you go "well, actually this shouldn't have counted" and argue to give yourself a second chance.
Invoke the rule *before* the stage is picked and your fine. Letting the match play out and invoking the rule to get a second chance, and now *you're* the one gaming the system.

@@xvaxxerx7223 a bunch of smash ultimate players/community members (mainly, a couple melee people i think) were accused of sexual indecency toward minors, a lot of it was confessed to. a bunch of it seemed to happen at sky williams' house, who is a content creator. like several different kids were either shown pornography or groped or whatever over there.

For me, the big problem with Mew2King breaking Dave's stupid rule is that Unknown could have said something before. He let it get to game five and waited until he lost to claim a redo.

The issue for the DSR set is that if Unknown won, the rule would never have been called. If the reset only happens if you lose then it's not about applying the rules its about cheating the results. If he knew about the rule he should have called it at the start of the game, not after the set.
but then again, m2k doesnt seem like the type of guy to not know if the tourney implements DSR or not, so he probably knew it and still went ahead.

I feel nowadays what happened to you HBox with the 2 out of 3 wouldn't be allowed to stand. Saying 'We changed it you should have asked' is the weakest excuse a tournament can have. It's up to organisers to make sure that their players are in the know. Especially when there are prizes at stake. The match should have been replayed.

Honestly I feel like the reputation shattering forcing ur opponent to sd when they pause is not worth the amount of money you win for the tournament lmaooo.
The hilarious thing is that Mike Haze was doing something that is/was pretty common in the FGC overall. If you look at the most famous FGC moment ever, the Daigo parry, you'll see Justin Wong (the guy getting parried) mashing his controller and screaming his head off in an attempt to rattle Daigo and keep him from pully off that insane parry.
It didn't work in that case, and it might be grimy, but on the other hand, its hilarious as anything

That M2K set one got me mad. If you start a game there is no take backs. The opponent can't just lose and then say oh no, that stage wasn't legal. If you start a game and start fighting, you consent to that game. It's that simple.

You can't read the rules before the tournament starts, because they can change during the tournament without informing the players. We where playing that it would be decided before the set of it was 2/3 or 3/5. So I decided with the TO for 3/5 but my opponent didn't know. He thought he won but then I came back and yea.
