Respect Mariah for the great songs she gave to the world. Respect Mariah for her prime and the range she helped inspire a lot of singers with. But, good lord this was a struggle and a half and strained to the max. She can still carry a tune. But, she can't truly belt without it sounding like straight gravel. Poor thing and those damn vocal nodules.
She can, here her voice was tired because she had just come off of promotion and a Christmas tour like two months ago and her voice is very fragile. I know this comment was a month ago but if you look at her acapellas on insta and even hero(at home performance) she showcased proper belting technique. She can definitely still belt but that part of her voice is inconsistent sometimes.
Well, I respect her for her live performance of this song in this video. She's 50. We all have to manage our expectations in a singer, in a HUMAN being in general.
