Mariano P. Yes klezmer music is great. And you are right in way Yiddish is kind of a germanic language. Parts of my family still speak it but unfortunately I can't- I do understand some words.

An interesting interpretation of this very sad song and as a Jew who Grandparents were sole surviving family members in the Camp this song is about...I am not offended at all. They just ignored the real meaning and sang it at face value as many have as at face value it’s a beautiful love song of enduring love that my grandparents had after liberation from that Camp. So the song is full circle for them in regards to their families dying and their love for each other

Dear Jarabaa, thank you for beautiful comment! Is your question about the content of the german text? Well, I wanted to make a different kind of love song because translating the Cohen lyrics into a singable german version is impossible anyway. So my lyrics reflect the love a mother feels for her child who has just grown up and is dancing in her best dress (maybe at high school prom?). The mother has to let go of her child, so she sings: I won't let you know how much you mean to me. You are more beautiful than music could ever be. Better if you don't understand that you are my whole world ...But dance with me one last time before you go! I really love this song very much. Thank you for listening!
