In this video I tackle how we can do an acoustic cover of the 80s classic 'Sledgehammer' by Peter Gabriel!
This cover and lesson was inspired by the Harry Style cover that has been popping up in my CZcams feed. It got me thinking - is it possible to cover this on acoustic? the main thing i learned from attempting this is what phenomenal singers Peter Gabriel and indeed Harry Styles are, and for the perspective alone it's been a worthy exercise.
I decided to make a video of this not because I do it particularly well, but because I love taking on a challenging cover, i love watching other people take risks with the songs they cover - and I want to inspire you to tackle songs outside your comfort zone!

Absolutely epic! This came on the radio while I was driving today and I thought hmmmm wonder if you could do that on acoustic as a solo. I looked on CZcams for just the chords/riff with the plan on figuring it out and found this absolute gem. Thanks for all the work you saved me ha ha!

That’s really cool man! I’ve been playing sledgehammer at open mics for 6-7 years now, but my version is more simple. I tune down a half step to match the key, makes more of the chords open and allows for more voicings, or so I thought lol love what you do here. Real slick guitar playinh

speak for yourself, I find Eb much easier to harmonize than D. not to say I can't sing in D, but I think he Eb is easier
