  • Chevy made a SS Trailblazer and an SS Silverado but they never made the SS Tahoe. Chevy did make an SS Tahoe concept but it never went into production. I thought it would be cool to recreate this concept. I also have a complete build thread over on www.thefabforums.com

    would look a lot more like a true ss if you painted the mirrors and door handles white, romoved the black cladding, put a white silverado ss rear bumper on it and threw some ss badges on it, just my opinion tho

    Yes it was the tahoe limited it was supposed to be a ss but general motors insurance wouldn't let them at the time badge it as a SS so they named it a limited with the same concept as the SS impale basic black spoiler 5 star rims and police lowers package I have one and did research before I got it but I am adding more up graded to it

    You know I have been thinking to make a Tahoe SS clone because at first I wanted to do a Silverado SS clone but everyone has done it and not many have done a Tahoe and I probably would do about the same as what you did with yours but I would take it a step further and start with engine swapping it most likely the LS2 or something around those lines because it can't be a SS if ain't got power.

    Did you lower your Tahoe any or just use a Shackle kit for the rear to level the Tahoe? What size wheels and tires did you use on the Tahoe and what brand tires and wheels? I have a 2004 Tahoe that is stock that I want to refresh.

    • @Thefabforums
      @Thefabforums  Před 9 lety +1

      myles king I did lower it. I put drop spings in the rear (i think 4 inch drop) and new torsion keys for the front (2-3 inch drop) The wheels are 20" chrome SS Silverado replicas. The tires are 275-55 20 Dunlop's. Wheels and tires are very reasonably priced. I have removed the side moldings also since the video and it made a big difference.

    • @woottastic
      @woottastic Před 8 lety

      +The Fab Forums the LQ4 6.0L fits the exact same space as the LM7/L59 5.3. the intake/exhaust manifolds, accessories, all sensors, literally everything except the heads from the 5.3L setup fits on the 6.0L, but buying a long block with heads solves that ($350 at a u-pick-it). the computer needs slight reprogramming (literally a drop drown menu in HPTuner to change the displacement size).
      that and a performance 4L60e (with torque management scaled back) would make this car awesome.

    Looks pretty good to me. I would also color match the mirrors, door handles and remove the side molding. Also would have left the stock color emblems and instead color match the grille valance. Overall looks good, just needs some power mods now =)

      @Thefabforums  Před 10 lety

      Thanks. I have actually removed the molding since the video and de badged it...made a big difference. I left the black accents because I was kind of going for the storm trooper look.

    They did make a SS Tahoe. It was called the Tahoe Limited. it was made in 2000 (i drive one)

    • @Thefabforums
      @Thefabforums  Před 8 lety

      No the as Tahoe never made it to production. The concept had the 20" SS wheels, badging, and ground effects. The same package that was used on the SS Silverados

  • @Xobesasma

    • @Thefabforums

      sstevocamaro molding is gone but I like the contrast of the mirrors and door handle. I looked at removing the roof racks but didn't want to leave holes in the roof

    the front bumper cover... mmmm... I've seen couple of tahoes w/ the ss bumper but it looked way better ( i mean yours is sticking out a bit, makes it look real fake, the ones that i saw had the bumper cover built as if it was by the factory)... other than that, great vid man!!

    • @Thefabforums
      @Thefabforums  Před 8 lety

      +ZENER454 the door molding is what make it look like that. I removed the door molding and it changed the look.
