    Pls check this for me. The length of the the side in the formula at the far right must include the unknown length of the side of the cut part. The 'S' stated in the formula I believe refers to just the slanted length of the truncated cone.

      S does indeed represent the slanted distance from the bottom edge to the tip of the cone.

      @@MichelvanBiezen But he didn't differentiate btn the 'S' of the frustum and the 'S' of the bigger cone. He used same variable, 'S', to represent both.
