all my blood for the sweetness of his singing voice
This is ethereal. His voice is masterful and drips from heaven. If you listen to others cover this, you will notice that they have to strain their voices just to hit the notes. Jeff breaths it out like honey or fine wine. Its controlled but each note is so full bodied that you can taste each breath that carries it. It searches, soars, basks in ecstasy, burns, dives deep, then sighs with pain and longing. Jeff injected all this in every cadence and explored and stretched each note to the limit.
Couldn't have said it any better. Something he said in an interview that really inspired me was that good (technical) singing is nothing. He said it was all about deathlessness, fearlessness, and this is coming from someone whose technical excellence goes above and beyond. He was an artist in the truest sense. He understood music and intentions.
The intro he does on this version creates such an incredible aura and sets the rest of the song up perfectly! Genius is an understatement
The bastardo did a different intro every time! I think he just freestyles melodic introductions! He could probably sing and match the chord voicings, and licks simultaneously, as one expression.
Not thinking ahead guitar wise a bar or or so like the rest of us to hopefully match up well enough with the vocal improve..
There's only 3, well 4 guitarist, including Stevie Rai, but hes basically Hendrix in the gym, who's the first, then Frusciante, who's introduction to Under the Bride was the first song I learned on Guitar.
Soley for the intro alone. Hunting Bears next..
When the song calls for it, and guys like these and Buckley deliver, it almost seems fated.. as if only these rare souls, in that right time, could tap into the waves of everything around them, setiing the vibe so perfectly.. leading you into timeless songs in themselves.
Buckley's intro in Chicago is my favorite, I had to learn it by watching the performance. Oddly enough theres not one lesson online.. i dare you, find just one.
Its now what I use to impress the folks at Guitar Center, who thank me for not playing 'Stairway'. And also say 'Buckley.. nice, don't hear that alot." 👌
Then I slide into the sh!ttiest version of Freebird ever known to man, and am promptly escorted out.
BRING YOUR PRICES DOWN YA STINGY BASTARDS!!
@@shape9381 You edited your essay and still called Jeff "the bastardo" in the final version?
Such a fucking genius. If there is one single person I'd choose to ever meet in the history of everything, it would be him. How its even possible to sing like he do, or write songs... Im always blown away. Fucking fantastic.
my heart incredibly aches when I see Jeff Buckley
I don't have enough words to explain how much I love you and your music, Jeff. Wish you were here.
....she's the tear that hangs inside my soul for ever...
I love that lyric!
Always gorgeous.
This is what you call authentic, man bared his soul on stage. used to see him in NYC play little bars, he was great then.
Yes, painfully beautiful...
all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
every time i listen to him live, i cry. something about him, his voice, his writing just touches me so deeply that i don't really know how to handle it so i cry.
Just like an angel, just like a little heaven.
When i started playing guitar - I just wanted to play Jeff's songs ... and it i still like that.
Masterpice.
I wish he had made more music - a true master.
I think I'd be sobbing with a heartache, sitting here watching this, whether Jeff was here or not. He did put all of his heart, every inch of his being and soul into this creation. There's a whole new dimension added when you watch him sing it, though, that arguably no one who covers any of his songs will ever be able to reproduct. It's the pleading of his voice, of his body, it's his begging to communicate this feeling. Communication is so much more than words, and Jeff is prime example.
omg this is the best version. it is just soooooo painfully beautiful
greatest voice ever
The crescendo of this live performance is very fine indeed.
To the people who disliked this... Despite how much we disagree on how amazing this video is... I love you and I hope you're doing well in this crazy life.
Amazing! every song is a journey he takes ye on, I believe in Buckley!
They have to release the full video from Sony showcase in Gleneagles. We need this masterpiece complete.
Greatest love song ever written
A song to drive at night with, painfully torn to pieces that which one cannot describe but God.

His best ever ❤
Beautiful
@Jaswant14 It's a combination of two performances. The first source (roughly the part with coloured video) is from a Sony showcase in Gleneagles, Scotland in March 1994 and the second source from a radioshow called the Mountain Stage in Charleston, US on the 2nd of April 1994.
God, how I wish I'd said all that! thank you
Best song

I don’t understand why am I crying right now

Heavenly
this comment was the closest thing I found to an explanation of jeff's divine voice. his voice just burns in your blood doesn't it.

Lord Save me.
Do we have the raw footage with sound somewhere?
Am I crazy or is he reminding me of 90’s Sally from AHS Hotel?
@DreamBrother86A Where/when is the audio from?
It sucks to be dead inside.
Did you ever get alive again against all the odds? I need to know if it's possible...
wtf heaven is on youtube
Where can I see this colored performance? I really want to see more of him alone, with guitare and feelings.

Eternal Life czcams.com/video/xK47V4EMfuk/video.html
so where is the audio from? which performance?
is it just at sin-e?
Jeffs voice turned me away from Cowells crap.
Lizard King
wasn't a great gig in front of all the Sony execs by all accounts, not helped by the fact Oasis followed Jeff on, & smashed it out the park.
Still, Jeff rules in my mind
Yeah sure Jeff pouring his heart and soul out (really give a shit who was in the audience as if that has any bearing on his performance) was not a great gig "by all accounts" despite the proof in this video and the full audio recording, but bloody Oasis the lamest most derivative band in history "smashed it out the park" in your expert opinion? OK.
James Franco is that you?
I was fortunate enough to have been there when he performed this at Mountain Stage twenty years ago. Without a doubt, it was the most intense concert I've ever attended. The entire audience was wrapt, listening to him in awed silence. It was almost as if you could feel his pain as he sang this, especially towards the end of the song.
Wish I could be that lucky! This is so ethereal, it has no possible description!
+Lea M you give me chills reading you and listening to the same time. Haunting song
Lea M 🔥🔥🔥
tears
leagrrl, Everything you said is true; I was there too. What a talent.
