- Here is another casting I collect... The Hot Wheels Ferrari F40. I have quite a few variations of this casting and here are 9 plus a MBX.

Pal of mine said he used to work at a specialist garage & encountered a couple of F40s in his time. So being a Ferrari fan, a nice moment/labour of love than anything. He has rightly pointed out that the best, most accurate casting of the F40 was overwhelmingly the Matchbox one. Its obvious from pictures to see the Hot Wheels is too narrow, giving the overall visual effect that it looks longer than a realone would, proportionally....
Seems such a shame when you think the F40's derived from the 288GTO (the Evoluzione 288GTO even resembles it slightly) & Hot Wheels did a splendid job of that model (I'd say its HW's best Ferrari casting-totally spot on!)

I like the HW with the 3 spoke gold wheels, the one you don’t really care for. I personally enjoy the opening boot. It can fit much better but I like opening doors & bonnets. I just enjoy the xtra details. I don’t personally do Wheel Swaps but my buddy will do Real Ryders on my favorite castings. I just love real rubber tyres. He does an awesome job with anyone I have him Swap for me. I love the real alloy wheels. Not cheap but they look so good. I love all your videos. I learn so much from you. I’m still looking for a ‘78 Malibu Classic like the one I built in Hugh School. Apparently it’s not very popular. The only one I’ve found is a Jonny Lightning that’s all jacked up and it might be the ugliest casting I own. I just don’t like the Crazy Stance and if it didn’t have the crazy look to it. ☠️☠️☠️☠️

Awesome Ferrari collection, I had the first one you showed and the white version of the same as a kid. I do like the Matchbox version but as you pointed out it has a few odd proportion spots compared to the Hot Wheels, I think ill take the blue one over all of them though and ill be looking for one for my collection

I would say the Matchbox is better accept those lousy wheels. I believe the first version of that casting looked like the prototype. Unfortunately, the version I have is from the 90s and has the stupid two tone paint they were doing at the time. I would like get an example of the Hot wheels . Like the white or the yellow with the small logo.

The Matchbox Premium F40 is a definite must! It has great engine bay and interior detailing (colored seat inserts etc) and has what I can only describe as a 4 wheel indepent suspension. The real rider tires make the wheel wells look less goofy an d it even has painted windshield wiper blades and window trim. The biggest minus is that the Ferrari logo is way too big. Does Kyosho do the F40?

I think the 7 spoke works nicely on the white one.
Nice fleet of Ferrari F40s. My favorite is the white Ferrari F40 at 6:15 with the 7-spoke wheel and the blue one. The Matchbox version is nicely done imo. I agree on the wheels though, they're not good looking. Thanks for showing these!
I'd remove the Matchbox wheels & add some Hot Wheels PR5s, or better still, I know a supplier who makes excellent "Star" type wheels on proper rubber tyres that would look 100% like the real F40s..
Awesome F40 awesome to see them all cracked I love that 40 casting could have went without the opening rear still love the car that's a lot of wheel variations on the red thanks for sharing
