I had a different idea. Full opening cutscene, up until Merlon asking you to save the world, which would be changed to asking if the player stole the game. If you repeatedly say no, you get the game over screen with an anti-piracy message. If you admit to it, Merlon will let you continue, but will mention that he cannot give you the Pure Heart, trapping you in Flipside with no way to access the first world. "Think of this as a demo." The townsfolk will each give Anti-Piracy speeches, akin to "YoU WoUlDn'T StEaL A CaR!". Talking to Merlon after that will have him give you the anti-piracy text from the earlier pop-up. None of the creepypasta stuff.
I had a lighthearted take on the antipiracy screen: So basically, after you beat Chapter 1 for the first time, the screen fades to black for a few seconds, then cuts to a small cafeteria, where Nastasia is eating a sandwich, and soon puts it down as she looks up at the player, and speaks the following dialogue: "(Good morning/Good afternoon/Good evening)*, sir/madam/whatever your preferred honorific and/or pronouns may be. You do realize that this copy of Super Paper Mario isn't legitimate, don't you? (Yes|No)" "Yeah, whether you realized this was a pirated copy or not, I just needed to remind you that software piracy is a serious crime, 'K?" "So, please take my advice: Instead of pirating games, PLEASE buy legitimate copies.
