Thanks for sharing. I was hooked the first time I heard this. Figuratively speaking, this was a real “tongue twister” for me, but, finally got it cookin’ last night and it’s a blast to play. I was hearing what I thought were some very subtle LL=HT phrases, but, my eyes told me otherwise. Once I realized he was playing an alternating (rlrl)rhumba style ride pattern with some clever shaping, it finally clicked. All and all this is a more advanced variation of the style and if one doesn’t have some experience playing multi drum adaptations of folkloric styles this might not be the best starting point. Thanks again for posting! Much respect…

I’ve watched this video when it first came out and I do like it BUT it isn’t really broken down very well. It’s not clear enough unless you have the experience or the fundamentals of having a great eye and ears. I know many will try to figure it out and may fall short because there so many tiny ghost notes in between. I just say for anyone trying to learn this to check out others doing the same rhythm. Then come back if you’re interested in learning this style or flavor of Guarapachangueo. It’s just my observation. By the way no disrespect. It’s just my observation. Happy drumming !!!

That's Jesus, I watched also, and see his ghost notes, which are awesome to behold, but know this: In person he's a fantastic teacher, very patient, clear. If you ever get a chance to attend one of classes in person. I'd strongly suggest attending. Spiro is awesome too.

Just pay attention to the rhythm and where the notes fall on the clave, The ghost notes will come to you naturally with out you thinking. this is how I teach my students to play the drums. ghost notes are a way to keep you on time or on the loop, they come natural if you keep your mind on the rhythm and the timing.
