Yeah I know what you mean, and it makes sense, because now we can actually make sense of it all. As a kid, you're more immersed in a scene, in a visual, and you don't necessarily see the bigger story. You're watching things, more in the moment, I guess. You have to learn that stuff gradually. And of course, most of the jokes, you don't get, as many jokes are references to other things that you're not aware of. Although, when a story was very straight forward, you could still follow it. The Never Ending Story aired every single year during Christmas in the Netherlands (where I'm from), and I must have seen it half a dozen times, but I'd like to watch it again, because I haven't seen it in a long time.

The only parts that are puppets are the heads. The rest are people in suits with the exception of Jr/Baby Sinclair who is a full animatronic.
I'm tempted to binge this show again.
