Maybe the lack of improvisation stripped Helium off the win. I think he could've done more with inward bass or atleast a smooth transition to his routine. Transitions are very very important
Yes. Better transitions and a smooth outro. That's what I liked about inertia set. Although his second wasn't as smooth it was still present. Helium did present some sort of outro though in his second set.

I respectfully disagree with your take on Heliums counter. What made this legendary was the fact that he choose to do inward base right after Inertias round (vs in the middle or making it the highlight wtv) because that is the most obvious and hardest counter to do... to show your opponent immediately right after that this is smth I can do that is just as good. Sure there were structure issues that took away from the rest of his round, but I would not have done that counter any differently. In fact, this gave us a truly defining moment that we are still talking about this day and will do so for many more days after this event.
Interesting take. You can either think of it as making the counter more difficult but more legendary or under utilised potential of the counter.
@Limo-swine 2 different ways indeed. We all get lost up in the details when we (over) analyze sometimes but in the moment, what Helium was the purest form of a counter and I wouldn't change a thing
I think the counter after he said "inertia vs King helium" and end the round with this would have been more effective. Just imagine this. I can see your point tho.

Are you kidding ?? Everybody ALREADY remember Helium's counter as the best of all times, no matter how he could have done it, it's the way he did it that blew everybody's minds. That's why this battle was so historical : many little things that could have been more effective... but put these one together and you'll get a perfect assemble that got Helium and Inertia in History.
Would you counter napom's subbass/liprolls with a lower quality???? just because you can do the same technique countering an opponents specialty with a lower quality aint gonna cut it. That's what yall gotta learn.
helium counter inertia's inward bass then Inertia destroyed it with Reckless so it aint really effective

Actually Helium addressed this on his own stream. He said he should have continued with the counter and he has no idea why he stopped. He showed us how he would have continued it, and honestly it probably would’ve won him the battle had he actually done it that way

Nice comments about the placement of a counter in the routine. Like you said, I'm used to hearing it at the start of a round, but I think I see how it could potentially be more powerful if used later. I guess each placement (start, middle, end) has its pros and cons, so battlers should consider where it will be most effective for them.
Also, good points about not using all of the time available. I can see leaving a few seconds on the clock, but as you noted, with say 5-10 seconds left, there's enough time for some kind of closing/outro beat. It seems like judges will usually allow a few seconds extra to finish up a beat, so if you go just a few seconds over, it should be OK. Maybe stopping early works sometimes in the "I'm so good, I don't need all that time", but I think I agree with you that it seems generally better to use up all the time.

7:32 I'm not an expert but your liproll sounds a bit too hollow, i think you should put your tongue a bit closer to your lips so it would sound more bassy, but that's just what I think
You talked so much about heliums counter and how to improve it, but you didn't mention inertia's counter, which was quite a downside

Inertia looked relieved that Helium didn’t continue with that counter…
Also if you look at the judges at the end, D-Low looks like he is about to vote for Helium, or overtime - but at last second you see him vote Inertia.
D-low says he was voting helium until the 2 count on the vote call and changed his mind last minute
I’d actually say that Inertia looked disappointed that he didn’t go full counter. As soon as Helium was done with the counter and went into the beat, Inertia looks disappointed/upset. I believe that when Helium did the counter Inertia was looking up for something more so he can probably go all out on round 2. But that’s just my observation.

This battle rates among my top. It rests firmly along side of Dlow vs Codfish.
Madox you should have kept the videos as one or should have included a bit of the ending of inertia's 1st round before helium started. That way, the counter would be seen in it's full potential and you'd realise how legendary it was.
I think God nerfed Helium from doing the full on counter.

It was the perfect counter because helium knows inertia inward bass and that he will use it against him. Helium did the inward bass very smooth I prefer this inward bass over inertia. (Only my opinion)

The main problem is that he cut the counter too short, and didn't transition smoothly out of the counter into his actual routine. Even though it was a sick counter, he lost some momentum by having such a harsh transition out of the counter, which is probably what gave Inertia the win (DLow was right on the edge, he was originally going to vote for Helium but switched to Inertia at the last moment; other judges may have been on the edge, too).
Helium actually briefly talked about this in his reaction to this battle, and he even agreed that he cut the counter too short and that he should have kept it going. He even showed off what an extended counter (with a proper transition into one of his inward bass routines) would have looked like, and IMO it would have given him the win.
i dont know if you noticed but as soon as his vibration bass got unclean, he pitched it a bit higher. probably cuz it was too low for him to keep it clean. idk if this is smth negative in judging but wanted to point it out

Btw i thinkHelium uses a little bit of tongue in his liprolls (at least if i do it it sounds similar to heliums liprolls, but less tongue and more open mouth than when you do the codfish tongue liproll)

Ikr that counter didnt have much an impact for me as well. People can say it's a legendary counter all they want but without the quality and variations that inertia it would look like you countering napom with liprolls it doesnt make sense

To be honest if i was a judge i will give inertia 0 points because he is really boring its like listening to the same joke for a thousands of times like we listen to it at the first time and yeahhhhh oooohhh wooowww but then the thing becomes really boring like come on bro its like i already know what he is going to perform before he starts he really need to find something else, i am not saying to change his style but he should add to it he is really strong already and i find it such a waste of talent what he is doing.
Tbh, when Inertia did his inward bass drop in his first round, you could see the smile on Helium's face as if he was indicating that he would counter it. So the counter wasnt unexpected to me. But the bass texture impressed me
I love how Helium was talking to Stitch in an elevator and when asked about going against Inertia, he just went “I’ve got something that will kill him”
Problem is for inertia is that he has 5 routines. They are all insane and he has mastered them in every way but they haven't evolved much. On stage they hit different for sure
