Born in 77, moved to Wichita by 79. My formative years were there, and I've missed it every day for 35 yrs. Moving back.

Yes, color TV's were not black and white, they were brown and orange.

Pretty funny to watch, especially being born and raised here. Still here too. I recognized several faces in this too. Jim Hershbergers former home. Jimmy, Mike, and Erin were all friends of mine. Went to high school 70-74' and it's grown a lot since this. But still has a small town feel.

K remember Coleman junior high. John cauthorn talking about hershbergers house. In vickridge I thought. He had something in the Wichita paper about things he did on his 40th birthday. I'm gonna beat all that on my 66th birthday . Probably not but you never know.

When I was a kid 1965 I liked that Purina building. Between Douglas and central ..... looked like it had some age to it. 1800s
      .... I don't know.

Nice look back at Wichita in the 1970s despite the faded print. I was hoping to see a shot of the Derby Refining Co. oil refinery along I-35, but no such luck. Thanks for sharing!

@@MikeSmithEnterprises When I left unemployment was 2% there. I had a job within a few days of getting out of the AF! The employer was willing to wait a couple weeks for me and I went back to Ohio, but made the mistake of staying. I went back to Wichita after a couple years at home where jobs are few and far between and couldn't find a job in the printing industry. Wound up having mom send me money to get back home!

A classic recruitment film. It stresses the positive aspects of a smaller city - short commutes and (in those days) lower crime rates. But it also tries hard to defy some stereotypes of a smaller city by playing up nightlife, culture and stylish young adults.

Wichita has lost a lot of industry since NAFTA (thanks Bill Clinton). I remember in the 1980s there was so many businesses there and people seemed more prosperous.

Live in this city my whole life🙄 52 years… this was hilarious! 2024 and this city is a joke! Against casinos, Major attractions, best zoo in the country is cool though, no amusement park, boring, bad drivers, very stuck up spoiled aircraft workers proven to build crap airplanes, and outdated century 2, plus a city council and mayor with no ambition to keep up with the rest of the country!
