    That’s how I won this weekend. I’m 190-210 off the tee with driver. 3W is 170-180, and so on. I beat a guy that crushes it 280+ because I kept it mostly on short grass and hit the green all but 3 times inside of 100 yards. When they are searching for a ball and I’m hitting off fairway lies, it makes it easier to score, even if it takes me me an additional fairway stroke.

      @@canuck_gamer3359 it’s not boring to play better than my physical ability. I use my brain and discipline to keep from having blow up holes. I still have them, but I’m beginning to limit triples and doubles. I’ve reduced my three putts to around once per round as well.

    Good video. The main thing that holds most people back is course management. I hit it about the same as you, I have driven long hitters to temper tantrums because they were playing aggressively and in trouble all day. That being said long hitters always have an advantage if they play smart and use their power when appropriate. A great short game can be an equalizer and make your opponent lose their poise.

    Great video as usual and nice to see someone not just advocating distance. Gaining distance is one thing, but today and sadly more players are too fixated on distance vs working on wedges, putting, short game and course management when they’re lacking skills in these areas. For the “majority” of players gaining distance provides the least return on investment vs something as simple as eliminating 3 putting by solid lag putting. They spend hours belting balls vs 5 minutes putting or chipping before a round. Crazy. Thanks and I’m 100% with you! 😊

    I get my ass handed to me all the time by older folks. The last guy (91 years young), hits the driver maybe 150 yards. But Mr. Lee is extremely accurate. A mistake hook, push, pull or dreaded slice always costs me when playing Mr. Lee. Playing the older folks have made me focus more on short game. Great advice Mistah Short Hitter.

    Spot on and I agree completely. Well done! I've used my 7 wood instead of 4 hybrid. It does go higher for sure! Carry distance is vital! Few have any real idea and need to. Own up to it and find out. Don't guess and get rid of the false facts. A person driving it 200-210 does not carry a 7 iron 150. I'd recommend people practice those short game wedge shots with the same ball they play with. Whatever ball that is. That way you know what and how it reacts for you. I also use a 5 wood off the tee often. Gets me to the safe zones. Most courses have 2-4 holes like that. Keep up the good things! Peace!

    @jerrysmiley1084 Před 4 dny

    Chipping and pitching are my biggest issues. I am very accurate with my drives...but woefully short of my playing partner. He consistently hits the ball further than I do with the driver but his accuracy is an issue sometimes. If he has a bad driving day I can stay with him on the card. As usual you gave us an excellent video.

  • @canuck_gamer3359
    @canuck_gamer3359 Před 4 dny

    I played in my league tonight and was playing with my usual playing partner and a new guy. The new guy hit the ball off the tee 260+. I had to make an effort not to pay too much attention to him and focus on my game and not fall into the trap of swinging harder in some sort of vain effort to compete with him. But when we came off the last hole, I shot 45 and he shot 52 I think. He hits the ball a long way but his chipping in particular is rough. I kept the ball in the fairways, made good, solid approach shots, got onto the greens in fewer shots and ended up with a lower score. I strive to play 'boring' golf. Keep the ball in play and avoid penalty strokes at all costs. I haven't lost a ball in 2 straight rounds in that league.

    I see a lot of you tubers like yourself, that mostly talk to handicap golfers, often criticise strokes gained.
    For the record, mark brodie who invented the concept has always said that everything else being equal distance will gain you steokes against the field. Hes also always said hit the ball as far as you can while keeping it in play.
    I love your content, lthe hairy golfer and golf sidekick etc. Ive learned tons from you all but people seem to be scared by strokes gained when its just a way of measuring the success of each particular shot. It might be slightly more complicated than most handicap golfers need to go but when you understand it, its a good thing to know.

    • @mistahshorthitter
      @mistahshorthitter  Před 4 dny

      @robertcourt8593 Strokes gained is awesome! I didn't criticize it. I used it as an example. I talked about strokes gained for 5 seconds in a 13 min video. If that's your main takeaway, I did a horrible job. I'll try to do better in the future.

    • @robertcourt8593
      @robertcourt8593 Před 4 dny

      @mistahshorthitter no, it wasn't and please don't take that as a criticism.
      I just find it frustrating when people quote strokes gained out of its original context to make a point in a video. I see so many people commenting on similar videos where they jump on the strokes gained bashing bandwagon when they don't understand it and only have the video quotes to go by.

      @mistahshorthitter I enjoy your content mate, keep up the good work, I'm learning plenty!
      I'm a short hitter, shorter than you, and something short hitters say a lot is, "it's better to be short and in the fairway than long in the trees." I mean logically yes but being long doesn't mean you're always in the trees and being short doesn't mean you're always in the fairway... believe me, I used to push slice it so bad I was 150 yards and in the trees every single time! It's hard to play golf like that!
