the sound of ANGELO's pick up is the closest to DJANGO's electric guitar recordings and being a musician myself all my life playing gypsy jazz (for 65 years yes) from acoustic to amplified by necessity this sound is beautiful and singing while having a little too much reverb;it is very difficult to get a perfect sound on stage live ,that's life.
Angelo's playing is tops style wise and technically and represents a life time of work and dedication besides talent,yes work work work don't forget it.BRAVO.

Angelo Debarre mi fa sempre piangere. Vi venni a sentire a Vignola di Modena alcuni anni fa con Vece e Montemarano. Ah, salutame Fabrì (ma noi ci sentiamo sempre e suoniamo insieme quando capita).

Il y a des virtuoses au violon, au piano récompensés comme ils le méritent , des guitaristes , des clarinettistes etc.aussi mais où sont ces enfants de la république qui savent faire l'osmose entre cette culture d'Europe centrale et notre France où ils sont venus nous apporter des savoir dans l'art et la manière de pratiquer l'Art, un art transporté par Django, Stéphane Grapelli, d'autres encore...alors république récompense tes enfants qui te font briller de mille feux là où ils se produisent surtout au USA qui aime notre culture, oui République Française récompense les , ils ne sont que tes enfants tu sais et peut être parmi les plus fidèles et les plus dévoués....messieurs écoutez les...vous pourrez alors être fiers..

He seems to like the Fender amps (don't know what the model is?). It's interesting since I see so many people going on about endless amps like AER and others. Of course Fenders can be a nice clean sound and I suppose even for a more acoustic sound

Does anybody know what pick up the great Angelo is using?
Whatever make it is, it's an old-school, high output, nickel plated humbucker. I think it sounds great for doing things like Angelo does at 3:34, at the end of his introductory solo, but otherwise, I wouldn't mind if he had the mic @ the guitar instead of the amp. That would probably feed back like crazy though, and he was already having troubles with it at 1:03). He is also using a fender tube amp…This whole setup is very unusual. What do you think? Do you like the way it sounds?
Edward Chomyts Thanks for the comment, the sound is not perfect, of course, but it is good enough for a crowded setting where a mic is not an option. Just looks like a very minimalist solution. Wonder where one can get a similar humbucker :-) and some chops too!
He's doing it to get a certain sound. If you look closely, all of the other band members have the mics to the instruments, which is common practice for guitars that do not have onboard preamps/pickups, regardless of the size of the venue. The type of pickup seen here is easy to come by. Just google " Humbucker for acoustic guitar" , and a myriad of options will appear. The Fishman type pickups are very popular and functional, as opposed to what Angelo is using, which is very retrograde. Along with the type of amplifier ( which is specific to the electric guitar..) He is doing this intentionally to achieve the kind of sound,
and response from the instrument as seen/heard in this video.
