If Mick Foley gives you advice on hitting ppl with chair shots you listen
Foley criticizes everything nowadays so no surprise. Secondly it’s not the attitude era no more so the Chair and kendo stick is all we got when we get “extreme”
Why so u can look like him? Lmao nah I'm good
No thanks he's a masochist who had a dream job
He's just an emasculated Twitter SJW like Batista. And this is coming from someone who's a fan of Foley and Batista.
@@Takerfan-nr5bk speak that truth good on ya..
Hat goes flying off to Batista, I get pissed every time Asuka is misused too. They really had something.
Yeah because it was bull, wish they let Asuka go ham like her "skull reaper" Kana days of old sometimes lol
Batista is awesome. I remember how pissed he was when WWE split up the Hurt Business. That was stupid on Vince's part and he knows it.

JR has a point. All he’s really saying is, make it make sense.
Yeah he does you gotta get ready to make the catch if that spot goes down, but literally all standing there arms up in the air like the guy is ready to go crowd surfing looks really dumb.
A much better idea would be to look like their going for the dive only to bodyslide from under the bottom rope to tackle them
Jr is right
Good luck getting AEW to listen. if it isn't a spot fest of choreographed gymnastics and doing ten running knees in a row without selling...it ain't AEW.

Gotta agree with JR on this one. The suicide dive to the outside is way, WAY overused.
It's like the super kick, so many moves used to be big impact moves are now just as big as a slap.
Agreed. It's not a bad spot at all, but when we see it nearly every week or see it more than once during a show, it loses the wow factor and becomes just another transitional spot that joins former finishers as just another part of the move set.
i agree kinda. i love a good suicide dive but there is a difference between big e bulldozing through 1 person and the scenario jr describes 😅
@@jbj7599 so pretty much every young bucks match 🤣🤣🤣🤣 constant jumpstarts and countless kicks
@@jbj7599 young bucks ruined the superkick.
Still under the belief that JR was not wrong about the “go to dive” spot.
It would be different if it didn't happen in almost every match and if you couldn't call the spot from a mile away
He was 100% right. It's the most obviously choreographed thing and it makes completely devoid of excitement. When you see everyone bunch together like that, you know someone will be jumping in.
- Jim Cornette
@@zenos02 punches and headlocks happen every single match and you see them coming from a mile away as well…. It’s wrestling bro…
@@ZachGatesHere bro… it’s 2021 and we talkin about WRESTLING. It’s ALL obviously choreographed… when a guy drops down after shooting someone off the ropes you know what’s gonna happen… in fact, shooting someone off the ropes is way less believable than anything else in wrestling lmaooo…. It’s 2021 … like if you can’t wrap your head around the fact everyone has wrapped their head around what wrestling is then you’re either an idjit or Jim Cornette.
Mick Foley: Chairs are dangerous.
Drew: Good point! I'll use this sword instead!
And u know what the crazy part is? the sword kinda works

@Ziyan’s Power lol funny wrestling is fake and nobody likes you
@Ziyan’s Power well no offense dude and I'm sorry for saying things to you but atleast movies accept they're fake but wrestlers don't do it and the sword is too goofy and not in a good way
Regal spitting straight fire. Seriously, how did Jericho know about the Codebreaker? He _saw it_ in a match! He says so in his second book!
I remember Gregory Helms doing a version of it in WWE before Jericho used it
Foley criticized Sasha Banks for doing a dive to the outside where she came close to landing on her head.
When Foley tells you a move is too dangerous...
Yeah foley doesn‘t care about his own body but about others he does so i actually understand him, he really did all his sick stuff just for our entertaining imo he deserves the most respect
Look how much it shortened he's career. I think he's just looking out for other's
That wasn't a criticism of Foley. It's to say how dangerous Sasha was being.
The amount of wrestlers mad at other wrestlers "stealing" their move, when said move was being done by others before said mad wrestler. 🤣
It's common courtesy to ask for permission.
JR is right, that suicide dive is stupid and breaks illusion of the match.
I actually thought the springboard stunner looked good from cena, really athletic given his size, he even did hurricanranas etc, he‘s insane, and yea stone cold only said he didn‘t like it bc it didn‘t finish the match and i agree with him on that
While not exactly pissed off, Jim Cornette implored Mick Foley to never take another bump like the one against the Taker at Hell in a Cell. And Nash was certainly correct that the bump basically ruined other bumps forever.
@Bro Dawg but because of mick Foley, the bumps have got bigger and more dangerous just to get that kind of reaction again...
I always hate to say these words. But "Jim Cornette is right." A move is nothing if you don't sell it. One of my big issues when I watched AEW in the beginning (I think it was a Young Bucks match) was the progression of impact move to impact move without any time taken to sell the moves. And you can make an argument that Foley started it with taking a move worse than any ever given to anyone in the continental United States of America**... and continuing the match. Then _accidentally_ taking a worse one that didn't look as strong to the naked eye, but was still obviously bad... and continuing the match. Then getting put away with two moves that definitely didn't match up to those two... then coming back out for the Main Event. It could've killed any and all injury storylines for all time, having someone that REALLY injured keep going... though they did manage to mainly get Mick over as the legitimate toughest man in all of wrestling instead.
** Okay, I just thought of some scaffold matches, especially in the extreme places in the country, which could get away with being called more extreme than the Cell table bump. They weren't exactly well known to the mainstream though.
@Bro Dawg Reading comprehension is a problem for you, apparently.
It became a stunt show instead of a performance:
It ruined bumps because they had to keep being bigger and more dangerous.
@@cypher515 Good comment. However, as someone who hated AEW for the reasons you outline, I have to give them credit for the last month or so of events. Good to Great matches, much less choreographed no-sell nonsense, and good stories. If you aren't watching, now is the time to give it a run.
That was Vince McMahon that told Foley not to do that kind of bump again
Jericho invented every move in the history of ever
He's the man of one thousand and four holds.
Jericho invented everything
Including the armbar
Dean Malenko was just about to publish his move set, Jericho attacked him and signed the book. Making him owner of all moves
ARMBAR!
That Randy/Riddle one was definitely story since he also ended up doing the Bro Derek.
Definitely a filler entry
Agree with J.R. about the dive. It's used way too much and there's nothing impressive about it. It always looks dumb and staged. Even more staged than WWE matches usually look these days.
Wrestling is dumb and staged
I mean, I accept the spot if it's earned. Such as in a tag or 6-man tag where one team sets it up. But in most cases, people just gather around and wait for the high flyer.
Suicide dives were once special moves that were only busted out when the wrestlers had nothing left to lose and r willing to put their own bodies on the line for it...that's y it's called a "SUICIDE" dive...and doing it every single week on weekly television is just diluting the whole idea and concept of the move
Orton says don't steal my move when literally DDP was doing the diamond cutter/rko years before him.
Johnny Ace was the one who innovated it, so the humor is twofold.
And guess who Randy Orton asked for permission and blessing to use the diamond cutter?
@@John-bj1zx like hell he did.
@@Rjensen2 Believe it or not, it's the facts.
@@Rjensen2 Yup it was Johnny ace that invented that move, just like it was mickey whipreck who came up with the stunner (sort of lol) and Scott Steiner first hit the 450 splash (young Steiner was a freak).
Kenny Omega: ***breathes***
Jim Cornette: 🤬🤬🤬🤬
I find it hilarious how people think they come up with moves, and somehow have it trademarked, prohibiting other people from using it. Assuming it's disrespectful is jumping to conclusions as well. Also, JR is speaking sense again, and Batista deserves props.
There are tons of examples where moves are "off limits" to protect the allure of them. Why else are we to belive this move, that everyone does, is particularly more powerful?
@@stevendycus9559 If they're off limits, they're off limits by the company, in which case performers know not to do them in risk of punishment.
Well you could be like Goldberg or Adrian Neville who made their moves so difficult to hit that no one wants to copy them 😂
Bunch of cry babies
I mean Taker has no ill will towards Kane. And he used all of Taker’s moves. Taker’s is pretty unique and memorable too so it’s more obvious I guess
Im pretty sure batista was also mad at the hurt business splitting up.
And Steph slapping wrestlers…

That I quit match from the 1999 Royal Rumble is truly ghastly to watch. The level of violence was arguably more obscene than the HIAC match at KOTR 1998. It's literally miraculous that Foley still has his faculties.
I feel like John was probably more annoyed about the degradation of the Burning Hammer, since he is a fan of Kenta Kobashi, and Kobashi put so much work into protecting the Burning Hammer.
Honestly, it's a move few people should use, and it should never be kicked out of if it is successfully executed.
John Cena is not a Wrestling Fan he's a body builder
to me if anyone could pull off kicking out of the Burning Hammer, I would personally say it's Kota Ibushi. but it should be clear IF you do said move, Ibushi should be OUT ON HIS FEET.
To explain, Ibushi in NJPW kicked out of the three BomaYes (Kinshasas) but the way it was sold, it was clear it was purely reflex, Ibushi was dead on his feet and was put away with one more. If ANYTHING, IF you're kicking out of that kind of insane move, that's how. Like even if Kendrick just Cena Punched him for the three I'd buy it.
Then again... this is WWE so I'm asking too much.
@@immersion726 finishers should be protected. If not, then More wrestlers should kick out of finishers like ibushi sold the 3 bumayes. They gotta sell it like they just came back from dying at least for 10 seconds.
@@thewarmestgarbage6007 100% yes. Like Ibushi made it clear he was straight up out on his feet. Like it should be a straight up kick out, they're on their feet then BANG. They're not even moving, eyes glassed over and even a fingerpoke could finish them
It wasn’t a Death Valley driver.
I'm glad Kurt realized he didn't do the ankle lock
Correction WhatCulture, DeathValley Driver is not the Burning Hammer, Burning Hammer you land on ur shoulder/neck, not your stomach.
They said inverted ie reverse
You land on your head/neck on a Death Valled Driver as well.
I get pissed off every time someone uses my move too. In case you're wondering mine is the the lock up, used at the beginning of every match. Ignore those that came before me, and be very thankful that you have me.
I'm completely and totally in JR's camp when it comes to how ridiculous #9 is - it's cringey as hell every time it happens.
This is doubly true because the majority of the time the people waiting outside are only doing just that - waiting. They're not feigning injury or being distracted by something else which would necessitate them being outside for so long to begin with; they're all just standing around leaning on each other and literally waiting to catch someone.
For once, I agree with Batista on this one.
I feel like for once, Batista agrees with everyone else.

Honorable mention, Big Show chewing out Braun Strowman for selling a clothesline from Sami Zayn, bumping as if he was hit by someone his size.
Thank you for being respectful to Gabby. That's class.
It does speak to Foley's character that his primary complaint against an individual wrestler is one of safety for his peers.
Wasn’t the fu only made to be a parody of the f5?
Speaking of Wade. The wasteland seemed pretty close to the FU

When Jinder impales Drew with the broadsword, Mick will understand what the chair shots were for.
I both agree and disagree with JR about the dive spot. They are good over all, but they are done basically every match which makes them not very interesting anymore.
Pretty sure that randy criticizing Riddle was an in character move
Yes ik foley wasn‘t ever the best inring (even tho he wasn‘t bad either) but all the sick bumps and things he did was all just for our entertainment, imo he deserves the most respect.
Orton getting mad that someone “stole” his move is hilarious considering he stole it from DDP to start with lol 😂
Clueless
Ok but Jim Ross was right about the dive spot.
I agree with JR. Only time Iv'e seen a suicide dive be useful is during a tag match to prevent an opponent from breaking up a pin, irony being it's very rarely used in those situations when it's most suitable for them.
How about Kofi Kingston's cage match with Dolph Ziggler? Door is open, Dolph is crawling out while Kofi is clear across the ring, suddenly he dives out to hit the ground first. I thought that was really creative (and REALLY dangerous, especially as he clipped his foot on the middle rope in so doing).
Nash actually really wasn’t untalented, he was athletic af even tho he always tore his quads lol
A lot of big guys were, big show even used the moonsault as his finisher at one point
Why was undertaker mad that he used the sunset flip or whatever? I wasn't watching back then...
Sadly, Nash tore a quad reading this post
His quads weren’t talented

I love the acrobatics and high flyers they're my favorite stars, heck the X-Division is the main reason I like IMPACT so much which is basically a high flyers division for anyone whether their 250 pounds or heavier, if they can fly or move at that level and that's what I love about it. However I agree with JR, I don't think the high flying moves are the issue in itself, it's how they're performed, they just wait their for the guy to dive, I get protecting the guy whose throwing caution to the wind, but most of the time when a bunch of people are outside together, they all just stand their together, there's gotta be a better way to protect them while at the same time making it look like they were caught by surprise. It only happens when one or two guys are outside, when it's just one guy outside, it looks fine in my opinion.
Pretty ironic that Jericho would call out The Revival for “stealing” his move considering that he basically copied the Judas Effect from Andrade 😏
That move is also used by like 20 other people. It’s just a back elbow
To be fair, Drew's 20 chair shot were NOWHERE NEAR as hard to watch as The Rock's... Everyone watching Foley take those chair shots was cringing back in the day. Drew was delivering much softer shots and he was delivering them to the back. "It's okay to dive off of a 20ft tall cage and almost kill yourself to sell a match, but don't you dare take some chair shots to the back to make this fight seem more realistic". 😂
I think Mick's point wasn't so much "don't do that many chair shots" it was more "If you're going to do that much you need a DAMN good reason for it story wise. Don't just blast a guy 20 times and then go nowhere with it." But yeah, the Rock's shots were definitely much harder to watch. The swings were more brutal, they were headshots, and Foley was handcuffed so he couldn't even put his arms up. It's downright painful to watch.
I think the whole thing between Orton and Kofi is probably 1 of the most well known , it even played out in the ring and then brought up years later in their recent feud
I see Asuka coming back and dominating the RAW roster again sooner rather than later , with the stale boring Ripley/Flair feud ruining that division
That chair hitting spot was actually brutal.
He’s not a piñata! Delicious candy isn’t gonna explode out of him if you hit him with a chair enough times. Isn’t he the one who took the 18 foot drop off a cage? If so then he’s REALLY an authority of what is taking it too far
It was 24 hits with a chair and he was that many for a nothing match no way
X-Pac mocks Seth Rollins and the Fiend's Hell in a Cell Match finish live on WatchAlong.
I wonder if the video game counterparts get upset about all having the same move set😂
I wonder if the Undertaker didn't want Nash doing sunset flips because then people would have expected Taker, similar in size to Nash, to do more in the ring than just adjust his gloves, do a flying clothesline, hit Old School, and end things with the Tombstone.
Yeah, what exactly is the problem with Nash doing a sunset flip? Is it that it's dangerous? Takes away from the mystique of the "big man"? I don't get it.
The irony of JR, an AEW commentator, bemoaning a key aspect of "aggressive parkour"..! lol

Honestly, JR, Batista, and Mick I all agree with. That spot has gone from being impressive to just feeling cliche, especially when it's set up in a very unnatural way; Asuka deserves so much more than what she's given and her being jobbed out is hugely disrespectful to what she is capable of doing; and 20 shots is going from brutal to just excessive, especially on a midcard feud.
Mick Foley talking bout chair shots when dude is about to present the GCW Championship in like 4 days lol
Ive heard different versions of why cena told reks to not use the burning hammer anymore. Reks' version is that cena felt threatened by any finished similar to his. Cena's version is that Reks botched it badly during a house show.
I also believe it has something to do with the fact that burning hammer is an incredibly protected move in japan, and they didnt want some low/mid card wrestler with an uncertain future with the company using it.
Should be noted that Reks' version had a slight DDT variation to it, which made it look more like an F5 than the AA. Not too long after this went down, Brock Lesnar made his wwe return at the raw after wrestlemania to start a program with cena. It wouldnt surprise me if at this time Cena already knew brock would be back soon, even if the rest of the locker room didnt
You are giving Cena way too much credit. He is a known ego maniac who uses his power to get what he wants. He is basically a modern day Hogan
@@ben1ben2ben1 This is literally not true, most people hated Hogan while a lot of people have nothing but praise for John
Cena telling people not to do his moves makes sense. He would only be left with like 4 or 5 if you take one away. I doubt he did the same to Lesnar.
Cena’s finisher was originally the F-U (but is now the AA), a pun on Lesnar’s F-5 so Cena’s move was meant to look somewhat similar to the F-5 so that’s why he hasn’t said anything to Brock
Nash would bounce around a lot when they wrestled the Steiner Brothers, it looked wild seeing that giant get tossed like a small guy 😂 props to him for doing it (like they give u a choice)
JR makes great sense on the dive spot. Dumb tweet by Cutler, too, saying "coil" instead of "quail."
Kevin Nash tore his quad just watching this. 😂
dErP
Both these guys are technically legends, and I wouldn't really call it being "pissed off," but there's Bret Hart's annoyance of how The Rock would "slap on" his version of the Sharp Shooter.
Rock's Sharpshooter looks just as shitty as Sting's sad Scorpion Deathlock. It sucks.
Most of these are just valid criticisms.
If you have a move that's a "Finisher" and it's being used as a normal spot, it makes you look silly. The suicide dive is a silly spot (but looks really fun.) And Asuka as one of the most technically skilled wrestlers out there, is absolutely not being well used by the WWE.
I gotta agree with JR. The dive to everyone outside the ring is just ridiculous. Same thing with the numerous group suplexes
very cool video good sir
If this, that move is already taken bollocks keeps going, there will literally be no moves left and doing anything other than a punch will be stealing someone's move
Ikr...I always found the concept of owning a move to be just the stupidest...who cares if someone has the same move...in fact having the same moves can lead to interesting story telling...just look at Eddie Guerrero and RVD's fewd centered around who does the better frog splash
Lol acting like I'm gonna let anyone steal my world famous punch. I'll die on that hill!
Mr. Backlund is still my favorite gimmick of all time, and I love the way he still owns it when on camera!
I remember people got really pissed at Cutler over that tweet, but like... he didn't say whether he thought JR was right or wrong. He didn't criticize JR or anything. He just referenced what JR said in a joking manner. I don't know why people got so upset at Cutler.
JR and Mick foley are right❗️
Cena is made petty for coming at reks for his finisher did he forget that his AA is literally a copy of lesnar f-5? Back in the early 2000s just changed it a bit.
The FU or AA is just a lamer F5
What? No it isn't, it's a standing Fireman's Carry, nothing to do with the F5 other than both carrying opponents on their shoulders
The FU/AA is nothing like the F-5. It’s a crappy Death Valley Driver at best. Brock’s finish is unique.
In b4 Karens come into this thread trying to correct you on Reks' gender

Fast forward to now, and the Riddle has hit some of the cleanest RKOs on his résumé (with his best friend Randy’s permission of course)
About the 1st entry, Vader was only putting on blast to work an angle with Ospreay which worked
I agree with Vader and JR. I appreciate high flying and all that. But modern wrestling really does sometimes feel like it has 0 story, and is just big spots strung together to see which wrestler gets the most "this is awesome" chants.
🙄
Did Randy Orton ever check with DDP about using a cutter? I'm just curious.
I've heard that when DDP retired, he told Orton to take the Diamond Cutter to the next level
Both DDP and John laurenaitus told him to use the move
There is a slight difference in execution between moves but yeah.. Basically the same.
Tyler Reks was always a favorite of mine as a kid, I always thought it was weird back then that WWE never gave the push
big fan of cena for about 15 yrs now but YEAH SA was absolutely right about that move being just SET UP in his arsenal. that and it did look a little messy more often than not too. but you gotta respect the earnest work Cena was putting in to get better even THAT deep into his career.

I think its funny that the code breaker is basically the shatter machine. The RKO is a diamond cutter and the twist of fate is an RKO with a twist. I also love how they give the sleeper a fancy name like the coquina clutch. Shawn Michaels does sweet chin music and they are down. Everyone else does a super kick and it doesn't do shit. Jake the snake hits the DDT and its game over but everyone else does it and it doesn't do shit.
Shatter machine is also a fancy name, as well as every other one you mentioned tyvm
WILL OSPREY IS STILL IWGP CHAMP HE NEVER LOST IT !? 😡
What about Chris Jericho confronting Brock Lesnar after he elbowed Randy Orton’s head open.
Funny thing about Angle and the ankle lock, Shamrock wasn't retired at all when Angle started doing that, he was TNA's inaugural champion mere months AFTER Angle stole that move. In fact, I'm almost certain I saw Angle slap that move on Shamrock in WWE when he first started doing it.
Wrestlers have huge egos which leads to a not insignificant amount of pride and hypocrisy
