- Welcome back to our channel! In this episode, we (Immy & Tani) explore the OLD LAHORE- also known as the walled city of Lahore. The walled city of Lahore has existed since medieval time but during the Mughal period it became the Mughal capital and the famous Lahore fort was built!
Our day begins with a rickshaw ride as we make our way to the famous Delhi gate. Delhi Gate is one of six remaining historic gates of the Walled City of Lahore, Pakistan. Delhi Gate and the adjacent Shahi Hammam were restored in 2015 by the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan. As we make our way through, we stop and chat to locals at the Hookah shop and try some strong tobacco, like the locals like it. We also stop by at Wazir Khan Mosque, which is currently under renovations.
The next stop is Gali Surjan Singh which really was outstanding. Surjan Singh Street is believed to have been built in 1849, and is named after Hakim Surjan Singh, a highly respected doctor of his time who often treated royalty. This street joins together with another narrow street called ‘Gali Ghubarichian’ to form a complex known as Koocha Charakh Garan (or Kucha Chargaran). Experiencing this beautiful place was just the beginning of a crazy day in Old Lahore.
As we made our way to Mochi Gate, we got to try the most delicious Laadu Peethian which are the most famous Lahori Street food. We also got to try freshly fried pakoray and Gajrela as we were wandering the historic streets near Mochi gate. Our day ends at the Allah Hu doodh walay shop which is extremely popular as owners spin milk in large gold bowls! Do watch our video till the end to see this never seen before place. This is the real true picture of traditional simple life of old Lahore without having any reflection of modern way of living. I think that time was much batter than we are passing through. No doubt our standard of living has got high with the passage of time but we are badly missing the real love and affection for each other and lacking actual mental peace in these days of selfishness decline of moral values. I have really first time enjoyed such a wonderful video covering old culture full of smile and happiness. I hope that Lahories would encourage this effort to a considerable extent.

It's always beautiful to see old Lahore the city of the Mughals . 😊 🌸 By the way, the Wazir Khan Mosque was built circa 1635 by my husband's elder Hakeem Ilm ud din Ansari (who was a minister during the time of Emperor Shah Jahan and had the title 'Wazir Khan ') . Another elder founded the Bazaar e Hakeeman in Bhaati Gate area. The streets are replete with history.
