People smoke weed, drink, do all sorts of shit before fights. You won't hear about it much because it's unspoken only once you retire can you talk about these things

I think George was even harder to defeat during his 90's championship run than when he was fighting frazier, ali, etc. He was so relaxed and his jab and cross seemed to have much more snap to them than in earlier years.

The first uppercut that George caught him with in the second round Cooney was lucky it didn't shatter his nose.
Just the thud of that glove hitting his face. The whole arena heard it.
He hit George with a left hook in the final 20 seconds of round one, and that made Foreman move a little bit, it was right on the chin it was when they were exchanging punches.
I don't think George was in serious trouble but it definitely got his attention.
I think the uppercut Cooney is talking about was the last punch but he was basically out on his feet.
This was the KO where Foreman used his walk-by-you uppercut.

I've watched that fight about 30 times, I cannot see one punch that looks like it hurt Foreman , maybe it just cannot be seen.
I always thought that punch he caught Foreman with was more Foreman being off balance than it being a big punch
@@anfman1972It was a loaded up left hook but Cooney was a big man and even a short hook could hurt. George got hit and swung wild so it looked like he got dazed.

You could tell Cooney had a strong punch. In the first round he managed to wobble Foreman. I think that’s the only reason Big George decided to take him out ASAP.
Foreman is the hardest punching boxer I’ve ever seen. Glancing blows drop fighters. Either hand KO’d them.

I think it was a big mistake for Cooney's management to put 13 months in between his fight with Norton and Holmes. If I remember right Gerry had some injury problems but don't go 13 months without any action. I know they were trying to match him with Earnie Shavers and even Joe Bugner. But for some reason, man it seems so long ago, those fights fell through. I think he should have fought Mike Weaver, but even that fell through.

Lol um he is talking about Foreman saying Cooney was the hardest puncher he faced. Second Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, George Foreman never said Shavers was the hardest puncher. Even with the people who fought Foreman and Shavers. Some said Foreman punched harder and some said Shavers punched harder.
Foreman never fought Shavers. He was saying as a boxer you only run into two or three true punchers in your career and he said Cooney was one.
