      @@peace-now Hi, frankly speaking, Russia (Soviet Union) sacrificed many lives for victory. But US was engaged in struggle against Empire of Japan. Amirican success in the Pacific war theater helped USSR, secured our back. Also US helped USSR with wide range of supplies.

    • @peace-now
      @peace-now Před 5 lety +2

      @@ilyagritsenko1232 I completely agree with everything you say here. The US struggle against Japan was very important and in some cases risky for them, as in the Battle of Midway and the Battle of the Coral Sea. The US also helped deliver crucial supplies to the USSR, which helped the Red Army defeat the Germans. Also, Poland, India, New Zealand and France created a diversion in Italy, which made the D Day operation very easy. It should also be pointed out that the invasion was very late and should have been done in 1942 when Stalin wanted it.

    I came across this post today and was, as I am whenever I see something about our brave military personnel from WWII, overcome with emotion. Those buried in that cemetery were 17, 18, 19 and young 20 somethings who gave their lives on D-Day 1944. When my father, a WWII veteran, visited the cemetery, he broke down when he looked at the first cross he saw that identified the body of a 17 year old soldier that gave his life on June 6, 1944. God bless every person who served in WWII, the "Greatest Generation" America ever produced.
