Just found a Roberts 770x with good tubes and would love to do something like this. Sounds great!

I think it sounds great. Clean with 12ax7 sound is my favorite. EF86 full bore is cool too.

Great job. Your amp sounds sick. What Model Roberts did you start out with? I have the Roberts 1600. It has 2 6UA6, 26AR5 and 1 6x4. Do you know what I can do to get some dirty overdrive like you have? Thanks

Do you have the wiring schematics or a kit available, i know someone who may help me modify an old reel to reel like the akai m-7 . I don't play guitar but I'd like to run my synths through this and play out a cabinet mic'd

Do you have any resources or materials about how you accomplish this build? Was it mostly Google searching?

Not a fan of Akai decks of this vintage they used pot metal cams that cracked and broke making them useless for tape recording. Why the ppl at Akai thought using pot metal for these high stressed parts was a good idea who knows…at least the amps can still be used and not wasted.
