Brennan Johnson has qualities, small potential for improvement. We dont know if he will improve, only time and training and his mentality etc. But as of now he is a bench player against mid to top table teams. Good against weaker teams but against quality players he is not good enough.

I don’t often agree with Stel but I’m 45 years old and my unwavering support is there but my patience is eroded.
However I do think we need to give Brennan the benefit of the doubt. There’s a player in there….

Stelios, on the premise of you already writing off Johnson, you should apply the same on Ange, as it was a good season but nothing stellar in his first season. You gotta give a guy more than 1 season especially in a new system. Some players need longer than others to adjust, we are all different. Stel is not an intelligent man. He never gets the facts get in the way of his argument. Starts off by bashing Werner for the losses over the last 6 weeks.
Werner got injured early in the Arsenal game. I’m not sure how he can be blamed for the last 4 weeks.
To be honest I think not having Werner hurt us a lot. The big issue hurting us was we were not pressing fast enough. We were not winning the ball high up in their half. We were not shaking them up and putting them under stress. This allowed the opposition to play past the midfield and attack our defence.
We could have used Werner’s fast pressing and good endurance.
Stel calls for us to bring in big name players knowing that that’s not the model that we use for bringing in players. We identify our players through a number of methods which includes analysing player data to find players that are young, technically good, fast, fit our model and have good character.
It’s very unlikely we will bring in big name players and then when that happens Stel will blame Levy for not bringing in the player he wanted.
The reality is that players may have big names but not actually be good. Under the big name model Casemiro was a fantastic signing for Manchester United. How did that go?
Stel also blames Levy for raising the money that’s needed in order that one day we might have the money to buy whoever we want.

Johnson had similar stats as Son in his first season. The same people who throw these young players under a bus right away are usually the same people who get upset when the manager doesnt give them chances and they wonder why.
It’s not about stats. It’s more so of overall play. Sonny showed world class talent. The problem is Johnson doesn’t necessarily show a high ceiling. These are things he can improve on but he isn’t necessarily young. He’s turning 23 in a few days and there are wingers that are significantly better than him as overall footballers that are a few years younger.

Fine if his next season is poor, then we should maybe try to sell him but we have probably 15 players we should sell before him. I’d prioritise getting competition for him before we sell him.
