The requirements seem pretty easy to complete.. So how can they assure that both groom and bride are really eligible to get married when they won't ask for divorce paper, annulment paper and the like??
Thats a great question! the marriage license process actually covers this when applying! The clerk of courts will certify this. Not only that if being used for visa purposes there are additional checks and balances so couple may be able to get by 1 but not the another. If it were to be found that either couple were still married than its considered fraud and the marriage is no longer valid and could cause other issues as stated in our legal section!
What are the other requirements? My fiance's is in California. And I need the get spousal visa for him to be able to enter Philippines. And how long does it take and total cost of everything.

@Jessica Saballe No. Marriage is not a visa po. I don't know the exact process in the US pero same same lang naman yan you need to get a partner visa first. Hindi po yan automatic.

I do believe that every country has same laws regarding annulments and divorce. Cannot marry until complete. Unfortunately it may sound like he will have to wait for travel restrictions to be lifted.

I am currently in Germany but not a resident yet. My nationality is Filipino and wanted to be married to my long time boyfriend who was a Greek man. We already process the papers and and we got the approval from Greek government that we can get married in Greek consulate in Stuttgart Germany. We made an appointment for our wedding day. On the supposed to be special day for us, one of the staff there told us that we could not be married because I am not Greek and end up arguing with staff there and not married.I am desperate for solution for our problem. you would still need to meet after the marriage. but once you do you can than apply for spousal visa

Any couple can get married without meeting. But if used for immigration purposes we dont get involved. Each country has its own laws governing proof of relationship to validate a marriage
