Countdown - 20th December 1999 - Part 2

Continuing the Quizzing adventure, this is my eighth appearance on the TV quiz "Countdown" in 1999. Richard Whiteley and Carol Vorderman present the quiz based on anagrams and number puzzles; Damian Eadie and Carol Barnes preside in Dictionary Corner.
This game is Lucy Roberts (Seed 2) vs. Gary Woodward (Seed 7).

I wish we had a quizshow like this in the US. I would enjoy watching it. I have watched all of your episodes. Handsome and intelligent, that's a good combination. Well done.

Why thank you :). Obviously this was 18 years ago so things have changed somewhat on a number of counts! I believe that 'Countdown' was piloted in the USA some years ago but it never made it to a full series. Which is a shame, really...

Sadly I don't think it would draw enough interest here to stay on for such a long time. I hate to be crass, but people here just don't care that much about words, and the general consensus on numbers is "math is hard". Just trying to come up with words and solve the equations from home is difficult enough, I can't imagine how hard it must have been to do under the pressure of a television environment. Most especially at 18 years old. Also, I'm qute sure things haven't changed that much ;-p. Thank you for the response!
