Fridays at 2pm on BBC 5 live.
How can he throw out a sentence like "he falls in love with the daughter of the king of the shell people" so casually and never revisit it?
"It's like watching an articulated lorry trying to do a 3 point turn." That seems pretty funny. haha
If you have a childish sense of humour like a 6 year old boy (like I do) you'll bloody love it!!!
"the most obvious thing to report is the complete lack of laughter"
Mark is even funnier when he's not trying! Brilliant!
I have just seen the Harry hill movie and everyone in the cinema were laughing their gobs off.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Harry Hill Movie. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Harry's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike The Harry Hill Movie truly ARE idiots. What fools.. how I pity them
I don’t understand this. at all the jokes are very funny some of the stuff are dumb and stupid
@@DanielMazz it was a joke
I agree. We are on a higher level than those humans who didn't find this funny
No knob jokes then, I take it.
Mark seems visibly annoyed that a film about a man who took his sick hamster to Blackpool was not the Exorcist! 👍🏆
Well there was a reference gag about the Exorcist in it
Thumbs up if you want them to bring back TV Burp!
i like watching articulated lorries make 3 point turns.
In a reverse of Norma Desmond, it's just the picture that got big, Harry Hill is still small.
I guess, because he's not wearing his usual black suit, Mark didn't like the lining.
It dazzles!
I love the film I don't care what anyone else says i give it full marks 10/10
Same. It was amazing.
to quote jay sherman of the critic "IT STINKS!!!!"
Whether you agree or disagree with him, you can always count on Mark Kermode for a fair, balanced review.
Not being funny, but that's a lie and you know it haha
Hahaha
Watched it on Film4 today loved it absolutely hilarious.
Fantastic film.
i hate the use of phones during movies.ive lost count of the arguements ive had. if they are that bored why dont they leave?
Have to agree, I find it really irritating and inconsiderate - it's almost as if people sit there clicking away as an act of rebellion and are trying to make a point that they're not interested in the film, but they've paid their money so they're going to make sure that no one else enjoys it either.
Agree
Agreed As Well
Well said. I really hate that new Cineme app thing that actually *encourages* people to use their mobiles in the cinema - it's really bloody distracting.
Yes I saw that cine me thing. Its more annoying than go compare
Wait... there's a Harry Hill Movie???
You! Go find out.
Now. OK. So.Don't get me wrong, you know, I mean I certainly by no means in any way dislike Mark Kermode and he can on most occasions write and report a cracking and engaging review but for various and complicated, convoluted reasons which I can absolutely not get into right now due to me not really being able to get what I think out of my system straight away and anyway if I'm given a lot of words to use then I for one would without a doubt in my mind and when I say no doubt in my my mind, what I am really saying is that he, and when I say he I mean Mark Kermode is a great guy.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Harry Hill documentary. The film about his life starring jonny depp and al pacino; Donnie Brasco was a good watch. When is the documentary released?
Unfortunately no matter how bad or good a film is there is always one or two dickheads on their smartphones with the screen of full brightness. That's why I always have to get in early to sit on the front row.
kermode said 5p piece before... on purpose, so bells like me point it out... dam you!
A piece that's worth 5p.
The way I see it, This Movie was an Experiment that FAILED.
Wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything to write home about either.
I quite enjoyed it on the small screen.
I watched The Harry Hill Movie last night. I sat there with a huge smile on my face for the full running time and was thoroughly entertained, but - to be honest - there's only a few big laughs along the way and in no way can it justify it's feature film status. It could have been a perfectly acceptable TV special or even a series. It's also lumbered with a painfully bad 'comedy score' that craps over the ...surreal mood (if any film deserved no score to it's advantage, it was this). Saying that, it's very entertaining and the 90 minutes zipped by. There's some great songs, nice visual gags and typical Harry Hill humour. If he's not your thing, this film will be the worst movie ever made. Just avoid it. If, like me, you thought TV Burp was one of the best shows on television, you'll be fine with this...even if you wish it would just kick up a gear.
I understand Mark's comments however - film does it no favours, but it's certainly not the 1 star atrocity certain papers/magazines are rating it. I'd give it 3/5.
@@leanwaters8151 I'm not keen on Harry Hill tvburp but this was funny
I'm bemused as to why this exists. Harry Hill is excellent on TV, and I am looking forward to his I Can't Sing musical/play. So why is he in his own film? Keith Lemon's career only got trashed off the back of his movie, maybe he can just do what Lemon did and retreat back to the safety of his popular TV shows.
I've learnt that whatever Mark dislikes, I'll probably be liking it.
I watched it today with my stepson and while it not a classic. It wasn't bad not a classic. If it wasn't shown at cinemas only on DVD it would been a big loss. It was a full house screening with kids.
the perennial problem of converting popular multicamera things that play in front of an audience (that the characters react to) to a single camera, no audience vehicle. has rarely worked going all the way back to Hancock. Not just a tv/movie thing, there have been great radio 4 comedy series (live in front of an audience) that have had mediocre transfers to the TV because of that loss of the audience (like Absolute Power or Bleak Expectations)
Has Mark just come from the Gym?
Blackpole is a real place too! Located in Worchester!
BBQ Hula Hoops addiction. I laughed at that.
Mark Kermode is the best critic, he is a critic who is fair.....not one who will just be a critic.
I'm not a fan of Harry Hill but obviously some people like his shenanigans.
But please, for the sake of us all; stop making feature films with these people. It very rarely works.
Just because you *could* feasibly make a feature film of something, it doesn't mean that you should.
is that Steve Wright in the back?
Looks like Paul Chuckle after a bad haircut
I thought that, no idea why he'd be there with a keyboard though
@@evilmario6061 I come to you from 9 years in the future to tell you that it's Neil Brand.
@@PeterMoore66 thank you, Peterrrr
Harry hill does not use canned laughter in burp, I have been in the audience. Well generally he doesn't
I am watching it tomorrow. Fingers cross.
I left the cinema on the grounds of insufficient laughter
Kermode's talking pish here - we saw the movie, the cinema was full, and most people (including me) were laughing. If you like TV Burp you'll enjoy this, no problem. Family fun.
Expectation. That's the difference between TV and the cinema. When the box is on in the corner of the room it's no big deal, just frothy stuff to pass the time. But when you've parked the car, paid your cash and bought your overly expensive popcorn you EXPECT to be thoroughly entertained and it better do it! That's the difference.
I loved the harry hill movie-made me and my kids laugh out loud (all in their twenties) Harrys movie is spot on satire at its best
Is that Steve Wright to Mark's right with the "tache" ?????
I think the movie's fantastic
I have a massive fondness for when small screen comedy tries to hit the big screen. On the comedy side it's all subjective but as a snapshot of Britain I find them more honest than many dramas. They have no other agenda than to make you laugh and because of that everything else feels clearer.
That's an interesting point. I think that's probably also true of a lot of small screen comedy for the same reason - the underlying realness is the familiar territory that we can relate to because it's realistic, that creates the springboard on which the humour is dependent.
Oh yeah. I keep on forgetting that this movie was a thing. Which says a lot about the movie I guess.
tantalizing reference to ted chippington there
Is it a good movie or is it a bad movie? Only one way to find out. FIGHT!
I loved it - I think the people who didn't just don't get Harry Hill's humour. It was ridiculous, silly, off-the-wall and a little bit deliberately tacky. The sheer inexplicable lunacy of it made it hilarious!
Well it does have plenty funny parts its just a different mood from the TV show, surprised Kermode didnt mention the Exorcist during this, the vomiting hamster had Exorcist parody written all over it. Theres actually a few Exorcist references, wonder if that was the issue?
I remember going to watch the cannon and ball film which came out in 80's . Same thing . It just didn't work.
It neither dazzles, nor does it excite.
Whos that fella in the background sitting there looking miserable?
Neil brand. if you have an interest in films then check out his documentaries about music in cinema, it's very good!
This film was so awesome, don't know why many hated it!
What's an articulated lorrie?
Big rig truck, hope you're still patient.
If someone started googling during a film at the cinema, I'd ask them to leave - it's so distracting to the other people there.
Not if it's more interesting than the movie I guess...
WHO IS THAT BLOKE IN THE BACKGROUND... ?....
I think that's Neil Brand: movie organist, TV presenter and guru of film music.
Stewart Lee has let himself go
He has something against Harry Hill.
What were you expecting a 3D badger's parade????
If it's too hard, I can't understand it.
If this is all it takes to come up with a movie these days then I’m wasted digging holes in mud swamp sites
Just popped up on TV. An absolute abomination.
I actually enjoyed this film okay it wasnt that good but I liked it. 2.5/5 from me
I liked it 😅👍
I wonder if it will be funnier watching it at home on the telly. Weird how the context can make a difference.
Cimorelli
Steve Wright has put on some weight.
He talks so fast
Reviewes make me laugh, games or films its a personal choice. Keith Lemon is fantasic on celebrity juice but his movie was terrible and the same goes for Harry Hill. I loved his tv show but i dont like his movie. Others will love both.
Mayo is such a bland, charmless seat-warmer. Viz used to make cracks about how his mum got him in at the BBC. Must look into that some time; the cap definitely fits.
How tired and bored does Simon look.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Harry hill's tv burp and sausage time but this movie was terrible, it's this years biggest flop of a movie! Awful
Must have been a crap film if it’s been a decade and I just found out about it _today._
its so bad which makes it funny
Pretty bad film I thought, surreal, boring, full of endless music numbers which are just padding it out, most of the cast are TV actors not film stars, the film has no stakes, no weight, the jokes are lame, they constantly break the 4th wall, nothing has any consequence or meaning....awful really.
No comments about the actual performances in the movie then? Maybe this guy should have invested more time trying to watch what was happening on screen and less time looking at what some rude disruptive git in the audience was doing with his phone.
your review is boring and doesn't get the surreal humour of harry hill and his world, brilliant film loved it. You are just trying to be a guardian reviewer. One day u will all miss this comic genius
accept the fact he says that he finds harry hill fun...
But he is a Guardian reviewer.
He isn't wrong tho. There's two, maybe three laughs in my opinion, and that's not good enough. Still 2-3 more than the Hangover series, but not funny enough. I did like the like "wait a minute, this is a specially adapted hoodie", but it did seem very much like the awful British comedies we are becoming known for.
I haven't seen it but I bet you a lot are just whinging about some silly kids movie
Bad Review I Laughed At All The Jokes My Mum Is In Her 40's And She Loved It. And In the Cinema I Was In It Was Packed People Were Laughing. It Is My Fav Movie Ever. I Am Sorry But I Disagree On Everything You Said Right There.
Twirlyhead It Shows My Rage.
why a CAP on every word?
Most tv show movies suck to be fair
The third worst film I’ve seen.
MrHappyBollox After Earth
Mark kermode telling it how it is, id probably go further, film is terrible, watched it today, totally unfunny, joke of a film
