  • Some hidden gems of Crete, that many people don't know about, in the largest island of Greece. Home to one of the oldest civilizations, surrounded by over 1000km of coastline (1,046 km), mountains with more than 30 summits over 2000m, that form more than 400 canyons.

Thank you for this amazing video. We were there last Sepember. In Chania and the south in Frangocastelo. We found many gems of beaches. One beach I enjoed that made an impression was in Paleochora and another was Ilingas beach a few minutes froim Sfakia. Not many people and they were perfect in every way! I can't wait to go back and visit some of the places mentioned here. 3 weeks in Crete was not enough.

I have been 5 times to Crete, and I have been several places on road trips, both west, south, north and east, but as there are so many beautiful places, it is hard to choose during a vacation. A friend of mine says, you need a lifetime to get to to know all the nice places of Crete, and I think he is right. And you also want to go back and visit places and people you have met before. Marmara beach was beautiful as we had two nights stay in Loutro, and ended our stay with a trip to this amazing place, but most of the places in this video was unknown to me.

@@THATGREEKGUY_ Right. I cant wait to see new spots from you :-)
Maybe you can help me with following request: I do research for other unique spots and found Gaidouronisi (Chrissi Island) and recognize Greek government has banned day tourists and general visits to the island to protect nature, which has suffered greatly due to the mass tourism of recent years. Is this still valid? Or could I explore on my own? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely understand this procedure as I am also not a fan of mass tourism. Terrible how ruthless many tourists just deal with these beautiful places. But for people who act carefully and just want to enjoy nature, it´s a pitty not having the possibility to visit. Sorry for long text, hope you can help me with information. Greetings from Germany

@@THATGREEKGUY_ I didn't either! Enjoyed your hike there yesterday evening. But that's too risky for me nowadays given my more limited current hiking skills now I'm 63 years old (or young LOL).
I did Aradena in 1993 and in 2017. But the last time I had already more difficulties to go down all the way to Marmara beach. I didn't remember it was that challeging.
Have been a few times to Tripiti Gorge, not from Omalos but from Sougia. In the eighties and nineties no one went there, yeah maybe by boat.
I remember one day I hiked there from Sougia and met a friendly man, he was kinda guarding there, I suppose the goats from the Greek owner. There was a little building where he lived. He was so happy to see a person passing by that he immidiate invited me to eat bread and cheese and drink raki! So the hike back to Sougia wasn't so easy any more with some raki's in the legs.

We are going to Crete, Chania at the end of may for a week and would live to visit as many things from your top 10 list as possible. However, we have a 3 year old daughter on the board... Any tips which of those places are accessible for kids? Perhaps something else?

Oh wow, thank you for such a brilliant video! What part of Crete would you recommend someone stay for their first time? I'd love plenty of things to do (exploring hidden gems like in this vid!) but to be away from larger crowds of people as it makes me anxious!

Thank you! Well I live in Chania so I guess I'm a bit biased. But it does offer a plethora of options within 1,5 hours of driving. West coast is more popular I would say. To skip the crowds try heading south. Maybe around Sfakia area. Loutro, Marmara and sweet water beach.
