My son Cory loved these guys! He used to sing this song to me! He was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor at the age of 16 and passed away just 4 days after his 18th birthday on August 19, 2012. This song / this version will always have such a special meaning to me!

Every time i hear this i break down. I lost a good friend not too long ago in a car accident and she was only 19. Heading home after finishing her first year of college. I play this on my guitar quite often in memory of her. This cover is incredible. Thank you for sharing.

He was the runt and was born with kidney issues. The infected tissue in his kidney spread throughout his body, and he died at the age of 5 on a cold winter night. He will forever be remember by the Miller children. You were loved and still are. Rest in peace.

You can choose to see that each and every person who has intersected your life has left a mark that lasts or choose not to. As long as you live they remain a part of you. I had this play at my 13 year old son's funeral. This was one of his favorite songs and on the the top of his playlist. I wanted sung from a male vocalist and came across this. He completed suicide on August 3, 2015. Thank you for the beautiful and heartbreaking vocals!

She woke up with a start. Then the cement block of grief hit her once again. The past week had been the worst week of her life. Her dreams had been good, though. He was still with her in those dreams, but in reality, it would never be so again. She got up, stretched, then put on his old coat she kept by her bed. Before she swept out the door, she spotted some old pictures on the wall. They were all taken with him when he was still here. The sight of them made the pain in her chest even worse. She shut the door, hoping that the loud noise would bring her back to her senses. She knew she had to stay strong, for his sake.
She walked down the narrow street, crisp autumn leaves crunching and crackling under her shoes. The leaves reminded her when she and him would make piles of them and jump into them like little kids, and then lie on their backs and watch the clouds, seeing what shapes they made. She walked faster, trying to shake the memories out of he head.
She soon reached the graveyard. She walked up to his grave, and gently touched the flag someone had placed there. She looked at his tombstone, then at the American flag planted nearby, and began to cry. Why had he been so stupid, leaving her like that? She missed him so much... She shook herself. She knew she had to pull herself together. He had always hated seeing her cry. But ever since she had gotten news of his death, she had been torn apart. She wished he could put his arms around her and tell her everything was going to be OK, but he couldn't. He was no longer there to comfort her, and to tell her he loved her. She felt so alone in this big world.
She soon pulled herself together. She got up, dusted the flecks of dirt on her knees, kissed her hand, and placed it on the gravestone. She had to leave, but she would be back. She walked away, flicking a stray tear from her lashes.
If you know a loved one has lost their lives serving our country, I will be praying for you and your families. If you serve in the military, I salute you and thank you for helping shape the country that we have today.

It can have different meanings, depending on the persons perspective of it. I think that this song is about children that is (as you said) suicidal anthe reason behind that is that they are not getting noticed. By ANYONE. Then chorus feels like that persons request to the people that is surrounding him/her to atleast give the person a good funeral and to remember the person.

In my opinion, it's a goodbye letter of a child to his parents, sayin that even though he couldn't experience the love of someone and everything that life could offer him he just had enough time. He is also soothing the mind of his surrounding sayin that love can be beautifull and by this expressing his final wish ("i'll be wearing white when i'll come into your kingdom" refere to what will he wear the day of his burial and "lend me down on a bed of roses" is how he want to be buried and remembered as).
In the end, that's just how i think and these of the suicide letter is also possible even though it's not what would be written on one of those (talkin about numerous experiences sadly)

This is better than the original. I first saw this on an edit of Cedric Diggory's death in the 4th Harry Potter movie. HAD ME BALLING IN THE MIDDE OF CLASS and when I tell you NO ONE noticed until I slammed my computer shut and some looked back wondering why but said NOTHING abt the tears streaming down my face (Part of the reason it hit so hard was because my mom was pretty young when she passed and it was just amazing to me how a song could make me cry in public cuz I don’t cry. Ever.). The amount of emotion you put into this song is incredible. Beautiful job to the both of you.
