Thank you for the instructions! I bought the kit…..now I am building my nerve to actually do it. I never knew this was something homeowners had to do and my late husband never knew either. We’ve owned this house 39 years and never cleaned the duct. I religiously clean the vent each dryer load and maybe use the dryer 8 times per month but half of those is drying towels which have a LOT of lint. I also clean out the “cage” covering the outside of the vent. I cannot imagine what is hiding in there. The dryer is 44 yrs. old and dries the towels and sheets in the same amount time as always.

Is that flex pipe inside behind the dryer the kind that is a fire hazard? I’ve read comments that say that should be replaced with real aluminum pipe.
There is flex pipe that is dryer vent rated. If you have a gas dryer, a solid duct is preferable. Never ever use the plastic venting. Electric dryers are more common in the southern areas.
Nice video. Any suggestion how to determine how long your duct is so I can make sure I buy the right number of sections. When you hit the end of the duct? Any tricks?
Hey! Thanks for the comment! I would take a tape measure and just start feeding it into the dryer duct. If it is clogged, then it may not go all of the way in, but it would at least give you a starting point. Also, you can push it in from the other side (exit) as well. that way, If there is a single clog, add the two numbers together to get the total distance. This may be difficult if your dryer vent has a lot of turns and twists, but it should still work.The pieces that you buy are easily attachable so if you need to order more, you can add them to what you have already purchased.
