This is an awesome tutorial, man! I've farted around on bass for a while but I've never really understood it. A lot of tutorials seem to expect some understanding of music theory (which I do not have) and flash so quickly through beginner stuff that I've felt left in the dust.
This was actually helpful in me learning to instinctively find the notes across that section of the fretboard. I may not have a clue about what’s major and what’s minor but my fingers know how to find any EFGABCDEFGABC up there now. I think that’s a good start. :-)

But if you're a beginner and your fingers can't stretch, it's okay.
I won't tell anybody.
Me: You're awesome, Mark!
Just started self learning, your videos are super helpful! Thank you!
I am a drummer (playing for about 25 years) and teacher. Also a composer via piano and computer and though have written many pieces of music with rifs and basslines, I have not formally played much bass but am finally getting to it with these lessons. Perspective on writing always changes when learning an instrument. That is happening for me here. These lessons are terrific. Straight to the point and clear. Getting the basics right is really important and usually self taught people will miss several key points that professional/systemetized learning covers. Appreciating the thoroughness.
Good to be a student again to remember the students perspective, the challenge of simple tasks for inexperienced hands (...for my drum students).
Honestly, this is practically me(minus teaching and 25 years). I'm a drummer, I write music on piano and computers, I haven't played much bass but I'm starting to get into it.
Same here, drummer for 30 years, always desired to play the bass, got myself one for my birthday this year six months ago. Tested a lot of online courses, this is by far the BEST i have found!
Thanks a lot for this videos, I learned to play the drums from some CZcams videos and know I started learning the bass and all this videos are just awsome... My fingers hurt a lot, though. Yet, I appreciate you did this videos now I know more than I knew yesterday so that's better than before.
fantastic lessons! just what I was looking for! Thanks Mark.
Muchas gracias, excelentes clases!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
This lesson is priceless for learning notes.
Will for sure learn the notes if i keep repeating this lesson. Thank you!
I have subscribed it, thank you for the valuable lesson
Really helped me a lot. Thanks you
thank you!!!! this is a great help
Perhaps I'll need a teacher at some point, even if this stays a hobby, but so far your videos are immensely helpful. Thank you!
Hi, it is very good. Thanks a lot.
Thank You big help!
soo basic exercice soo much to learn , thanks a lot
It's good to see the notes while you are playing them with the metro-dome but I would rather see how and where you are playing them while you are playing them. Can you put the notes at the bottom of the screen or down the sides?
Multi screen view would be much better to see the strings and notes at the same time .
but many thanks though
Moves so fast but helpful
Lol I’m the only one in my friend group with a bass and they want me in there band so I said yes but don’t have a clue how to play bass so here I am with a bass no amp at 3:00am trying to play bass. Welp. And btw my fingers do t stretch that much dude sorry.

it would be nice to see the musical connotation along with the letter.....get you used to seeing the notes...
