Just to clear up some things: Basking sharks probably wouldn't try and fight/defend itself against a great white head on, it would probably flee if attacked. Basking sharks are very slow moving, but they are capable of breaching like seen in this video. If you're wondering how a Basking shark could take this many bites from a great white, They have very thick and rough skin which can in some cases cut people if rubbed a certain way. I'm not sure how effectively a basking shark could ram against things as a defense or even ram anything at all but I'm sure a basking shark could do something against a white shark.
Filter feeders like whale sharks are considered apex predators despite the fact that they don’t eat other animals is because they can use their caudal fin as a whip, which can easily one shot smaller animals
