Bro! You do realize that Mister Drummer is Calvin Rodgers....one of the most, if not THE most called drummer in gospel music! Played with most of the top names in gospel. He's been touring with the Isley Brothers, he played with Aretha Franklin...the list can go on and on. Trust me, he KNOWS about placement and groove, and I'm sure somebody told him to solo, so that's what he did!
