Do you like these Detroit Diesel Engines ?
Yes diesel
Yes.
HELL YES
Oh hell yeah!
A lot of noise but 1 tough moter used a few in wood s 453 loadin logs and 8 v 71 line machine
The 6V71 shown at 2:08 sounds pretty healthy. Hardly any smoke at startup and no idle hunting.
Yea it looks brand new probably from a school been rebuilt thousands of times
My dad retired from Detroit diesel the hunt for idle sounds awesome but he always said if it was doing that it wasn’t right
If a Detroit 2-stroke doesn't fire virtually instantly and Idle Evenly straight away , it is NOT adjusted correctly . There is a " Black Art " to them .
Love ❤️ the sound of a Detroit diesel engine in morning 🌄.
i think u should add tha fact that these engines were built in tha 1930s/40s. just think how much talent went into building these engines without any computers, they were run in everything from tanks to small barges. huge cid.gas engines were still around thru tha 50s in road tractors
Love seeing the bus I own in this video at 4:20 I just was running it on the weekend. There's some other videos of my bus on my channel too
I like Detroit’s thats what I went to school for but I like working on deutz diesels better, it’s a simple engine to rebuild and troubleshoot. All that being said nothing sounds like a two stroke Detroit you gotta love that tone.
Gota love Detroit diesels.... I esspesally love the two strokes
Klotz super tecniplate
I was introduced to Detroit's in the USN on a wooden ship they were generator engines. The main engines were Packard V-12's. I worked at a Detroit dealership for a number of years, I was a member of the Detroit diesel Craftsman Guild . I still think about working on the river in Baton Rouge and lots of the plants and lots of other locations. They were everywhere then.
Love the sound of a detroit.
Que bonito la partida de cada motor y todavia estan buenos
My fire department runs an 8v92ta and a 6v92ta both have a Jake brake and are both over 400 horse power. The 8v92ta is a 450 HP 12 liter that floats hills in my town
i got a 475 hp turbo silver 8v92.
peculiar that tre "V" 71 sound. nicely done.
I liked V8 gasoline engines, when I was starting the new job in construction site, now I love diesel engines, especialy 6 cylinder diesels, my favourite engine is CAT C7 acert, but the detroit diesels have good place in my hearth...❤

Stay with the gas engines way better power to weight ratio. For the same boost bore and stroke a big 2 stroke ethanol will make much more power than the same sized diesel 2 stroke. Rotax should make a 930 CID inline 6 ETEC ethanol 2 stroke and a 1200 CID Etec 2 stroke V8.
Good job 👌
Do you have twin disc 8501 series gearbox and Allison 4700,4800 gearbox for sale? Both old and broken ones are fine!
I had a number of them ....my first was a 2-71.....my last was a V 12-149
If they don't start after a few revolutions....wait for the heat to settle a moment....and she will fire better the second or third time without either
Lots of power and noise hahaha
My dad worked for an oil rig moving company and their trucks were I.H Whites GMC and two Autocars the Whites used cummins the I.H had 4 6 cyclinder Jimmy's one of the Autocars had a 250 cummins and the other had a 6-71 Jimmy and rig was thier primarily moving truck and there's picture's of in the oil field Autocars.
THERE WAS A 3 CYL,WITH 6 PISTONS,HORIZONTLY OPPOSED IT WAS THE BRITISH COMMER TRUCK ENGINE 2 CUCLE,POWERERFUL & noisy,just as a DETROIT, 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
VERY NICE!
Where are you from guys ? :)

Claro que me gusta!!!!
Completely different type of diesel from the Gardner. In Britain from the 1950s to the 1980s many of our buses (or city buses in the US) had Gardners. 5 or 6 cylinders, inline, slow revving. Whereas I assume in the US a lot of your city buses had Detroit Diesels. V cylinder arrangement, high revving.
1:00... quit short cycling your start switch.
All of those engines need tuned up most start and you don't hear the starter and they don't lope when idling
Sometimes they Will lope momentarily... until the oil pressure is up, and sometimes for a minute or two after.... but yes, a good tune up will help.. Greatly.
Parece que todo motor irá quebrar!
How about little Detroits
There were only 4 12v53t ever produced and they were only prototypes used in the military in 1967!!
DETROIT DIESEL: Turning diesel fuel into NOISE and POWER!!
There Great power building engine's I'm too old to deal with the filth, they'll give a young man black finger nails for the weekend, hell no.
Waterpump engines. Green Weinie.
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!
That's fine in places like Norway which has more hydroelectric power than they know what to do with, or France that has a population big enough to run massive nuclear power stations, and neither has any long distances to travel.
Not so bad in the USA that has nuclear power and a high population density.
For the rest of the world that has to burn coal or oil or gas to generate electricity, it's stupid. Stupid because battery powered vehicles just transfer the emissions from the vehicles to the power stations. Know why photo-voltaic costs a lot? It because the energy you get out of them over their useful life is of similar order of magnitude to the energy consumed in making them. Most of the cells in photo-voltaic panels are made in China, using electric power generated from their abundant cheap coal, producing still more emissions.
Here in Australia, we have a land area similar to the USA but a population density 1/12th. It's just not going to be possible to install enough charging stations all over the place to make elimination of diesel and gasoline powered cars and diesel trucks possible.
Oh hooey ICE will not be banned where does everyone come up with this stuff. We should make everything into DFI 2 strokes.
KEEP YER DETROITS....GIVE ME A GOOD OLD BRITISH GARDNER ANY DAY. !!!
And it not the series 50 it series 55
there was that 51 series limited addition it was a lot like a gas 2 stroke.
