      I did this for a week or so, but then worked it out. The button tilts (e.g. to open/close the roof up), but then you can also slide it (finger and thumb front and back and pull it towards the back of the car or push it towards the front) to slide the roof back and forth and also the blind.

      IMHO Volvo tried to save too much. One extra button for the curtain woud make things so much easier... I hardly ever get the right setting in one go. Also missing a button for quick access of the camera. In my previous car, i did use the camera button often, to use the front camera while driving out of an alley. Still like my XC40 very much.

    I have an XC40 late 2021 myself and I gotta say that pillot assist workz pretty well on the roads in Sweden. And to mention that it is not an autopilot, it's a pilot assist function (very important).

    Pilot assist isn't men to be used like you used it. If you use it properly it works great, like on highways and main roads, not roundabouts, junctions and intersections.
    It isn't an autopilot in any way like Tesla has and isn't intended to be.

    Volvo is working on a Lidar technology with Luminar which will give their future generation cars fully autonomous highway driving. That option will be mounted on the roof just over the windshield and will be around $10k

  • @bovineox1111

    I don't think Pilot Assit is intended to drive the car, more to keep you in lane... "Pilot Assist helps the driver to drive the car between the lane's side markings using steering assistance as well as to maintain an even speed, combined with a preselected time interval to the vehicle ahead."
    You're testing it with expectation it will do more but that is the wrong expectation according to Volvo's statement above.

    • @stevemarruk
      @stevemarruk  Před rokem

      Very true but also understand it really is just an assist

  • @Mickemukk
    @Mickemukk Před 3 lety +1

    I've got a XC60 MY 2018 with Pilot assist. It works like a charm. Of course following white lines is problematic when the line is splitting up in two directions. Also for todays radars, lidars and cameras to brake for still standing objects is very tricky. Also for Tesla.
    Will pick up a XC40 Inscription MY 2022 in august. :)

    • @stevemarruk
      @stevemarruk  Před 3 lety

      Yeah pilot assist can be tricky at times even more in hard heavy rain 🌧 but overall not bad

    • @Mickemukk
      @Mickemukk Před 3 lety

      @@stevemarruk yeah, all cameras have a hard time in rain and with some reflections on very sunny days or special circumstances as well.
      In the end I rarely use it. Except on highways or similar. Since you anyway have to keep your hand on the steering wheel more or less. The bottle trick works but feels bad. Adaptive cruise control on the other hand I use A LOT. Amazing in queues down to standstill. It has only missed breaking cars in front of me in very low speeds like 2-3 times in 3 years (60000 km).
