Great car but that darn sunroof lol
I did this for a week or so, but then worked it out. The button tilts (e.g. to open/close the roof up), but then you can also slide it (finger and thumb front and back and pull it towards the back of the car or push it towards the front) to slide the roof back and forth and also the blind.
@@paulgriffith4858 thanks Paul I’ll give it a go lol
IMHO Volvo tried to save too much. One extra button for the curtain woud make things so much easier... I hardly ever get the right setting in one go. Also missing a button for quick access of the camera. In my previous car, i did use the camera button often, to use the front camera while driving out of an alley. Still like my XC40 very much.
@@maartenvandenbosch6210 great feedback Maarten
You just saved $2K :)
I have an XC40 late 2021 myself and I gotta say that pillot assist workz pretty well on the roads in Sweden. And to mention that it is not an autopilot, it's a pilot assist function (very important).
Thanks for the feedback
I own this car but it never struggled with sunroof control you have to press it light for blind and hard to open sunroof
You sir are a lifesaver lol
Pilot assist isn't men to be used like you used it. If you use it properly it works great, like on highways and main roads, not roundabouts, junctions and intersections.
It isn't an autopilot in any way like Tesla has and isn't intended to be.
Yeah I know but worth a try lol
I love how you do your videos so entertaining... great video...
Thank you that means a lot
Its an assistant, just an assistant, not a full on autopilot, and its mainy made for highway not for twisty city road
Mate you're very brave to have experimented like that, hats off :) . I wanted to check if it was worth investing in the auto pilot as it's more than 2k in australia and your video absolutely helped me :). Thank you so much
Thanks man
Volvo is working on a Lidar technology with Luminar which will give their future generation cars fully autonomous highway driving. That option will be mounted on the roof just over the windshield and will be around $10k
Oh wow it’s going to happen that’s for sure
Isn’t auto pilot only motorway driving?
As long as there are two different white lines both side of the road it will work
great video
Thanks Nate
On Park assist, you should put the break hold off
Thank you
Nice video. What engine is this Volvo?
2.0D
I don't think Pilot Assit is intended to drive the car, more to keep you in lane... "Pilot Assist helps the driver to drive the car between the lane's side markings using steering assistance as well as to maintain an even speed, combined with a preselected time interval to the vehicle ahead."
You're testing it with expectation it will do more but that is the wrong expectation according to Volvo's statement above.
Very true but also understand it really is just an assist
Is apple car play really an extra I will have to pay separately for? I am set for a hybrid T5, that could be a deal breaker!!!!
Well the car I had was an inscription and it came with Apple car play, but I hear the XC60 doesn’t come with it as standard.
I noticed that it doesn't notice red lights? Volvo needs to work on that.
They doubtless do but this tech neve claims to detect this or anythng else. The test done here is based on expectation well over the intended capability.
Does Inscription trim come with Apple car play as standard? Thanks 😊
Yes it does and Android auto but you need to use the iPhone cable unless you use the wireless dingle like I have link in the description it’s much better and cleaner than having a cable
@@stevemarruk would love to see you doing a video on internal tech. Nice videos!
@@faizanjahangir8989 you mean if the Volvo?
@@stevemarruk yes please. CarPlay using the dongle!
@@stevemarruk is the wireless dongle still working? And what is particular one you bought, link to the item if possible
is auto parking available on all xc40 momentum editions?
I am not sure I think so
I've got a XC60 MY 2018 with Pilot assist. It works like a charm. Of course following white lines is problematic when the line is splitting up in two directions. Also for todays radars, lidars and cameras to brake for still standing objects is very tricky. Also for Tesla.
Will pick up a XC40 Inscription MY 2022 in august. :)
Yeah pilot assist can be tricky at times even more in hard heavy rain 🌧 but overall not bad
@@stevemarruk yeah, all cameras have a hard time in rain and with some reflections on very sunny days or special circumstances as well.
In the end I rarely use it. Except on highways or similar. Since you anyway have to keep your hand on the steering wheel more or less. The bottle trick works but feels bad. Adaptive cruise control on the other hand I use A LOT. Amazing in queues down to standstill. It has only missed breaking cars in front of me in very low speeds like 2-3 times in 3 years (60000 km).
@@Mickemukk yeah that is good 👍 and it should only improve as well overhaul great cars and that lane keeping assist is strange at times when you need to change lanes lol
@@stevemarruk LKA is strange if you forget the indicators. ;)
@@Mickemukk lol 😂 true
Is this supposed to be a professional review in any way lol ?
No not at all in fact I suck at reviews I even admit that in my videos but I do love tech and will give my honest opinions on how I find things as a consumer!
my old mercedes c class could this at 2017
Volvo had it in XC90 in 2015. I had it in my Skoda Superb from 2015.
Wouldnt trust any automation
it take a little while to trust but also staying in control it does help take the stress out of driving...
