The Bible is filled with many fascinating patterns, some of which are extremely interesting. One such pattern is found between the man Joseph of the Old Testament and the man Jesus Christ in the New Testament.
Over the years, many dispensational patterns of Joseph as a type of Jesus have been recognized by Bible students and recorded in various works.
This video presents just a small fraction of the patterns between the patriarch Joseph and our God and Savior Jesus Christ. (Some of these were compiled by a friend in ministry and former colleague, the late Chuck Missler. See his website at khouse.org)

The Torah is filled with types, antitypes, and shadows of things to come.
Genesis is the first of the five books of the Torah. It is where we encounter the incredible story of one particular son of Jacob. (Namely, Joseph, whom this video is about.)
The word "Genesis" is the English translation of the Hebrew word, "Bereshit," meaning "In the beginning."
Jews and Christians both find their ancestry in the patriarchs of faith: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. The book of Genesis, then, reveals a spiritual ancestry.
To be "in Christ" is to be the spiritual heir to the promises made to Abraham and his descendants.
The blessed Apostle Paul tells us as much in his letter to the church in ancient Galatia:
"And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Galatians 3:29 KJV)
And the beloved Paul expounds upon this profound truth again to the church of Rome when he explains:
"This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring." (Romans 9:8)
When we identify with the Second Adam, Jesus Christ, we are "grafted in" to the promises made to Abraham and his descendants through a New Covenant. No longer are we alienated from being sons of God because of Christ's atoning work on the cross.

Also, both Joseph and Jesus were providers of bread. Through Joseph, the people of Egypt and the surrounding nations had grain to make bread so that they could live. So also Jesus provided bread (in Himself as the Bread of Life) to bring salvation to the whole world.

I think another interesting connection is that shepherds were considered abominations in Egypt, and Joseph, along with his whole family were shepherds. Only by the mediation of Joseph was his family accepted by Pharoah to live in the land of Egypt as shepherds.

One very serious difference:
Joseph has a strong sex drive and never takes advantage of a single woman his entire life. He has a wife and two children. This is one of the things that defines who he is in Scripture. It is a unique "Saintliness" that only applies to Joseph at that point in the Bible.
I haven't seen a parallel between Joseph and Jesus in this way.
Where do you get he has a strong sex drive?
The reason there are patterns is because as Galatians 24:14 says, the old testament stories are allegory. It took me 40 years (40 being apt) to realise it's all numerology (hebrew kabbalah), astrotheology and mythology. When I knew that...the old testament made sense. Take Ezekiels wheel... wheels within wheels (orbit the ancients knew the stars and sky like we know the internet) and the 4 faces... the bull/ox is Taurus, the eagle was the symbol of scorpio, the man is aquarius the water bearer and the lion is leo). The ancients knew and named the constellations. When the hebrews were in babylonian captivity they wrote the torah, judges, kings etc. Why dya think in 2300bc that king sargon of akkad was born and concealed in a basket to escape infanticide... drifted down a river...rescued and raised by royalty?? Research it... moses story copied in babylon. Noah's flood copies the epic of gilgamesh written in the 2nd millenia bc. The patterns exist because the stories are repeated again and again. Why dya think the woman that bled did so for 12 years? The girl resurrected was 12? The loaves gathered filled 12 baskets...12 disciples...12 tribes and so on... what about 40? Moses 40 years in egypt, 40 years he fled, 40 years in wilderness...oh yes 12 spies... jesus 40 days he was in wilderness... Noah's flood rained for 40 days.. come on!!! Its allegory and therefore has patterns just like the stories by hans Christian Anderson... I've seen it just in time to at least enjoy 20 years knowing the truth. 1. While I'm sure that Joseph being the son of Rachel had a lot to do with his favor with Jacob, the scripture never tells us that. However, it dies say that Jacob loved Joseph because he was the "son of his old age". So Jacob was elderly and maybe miraculously had Joseph.
2. Joseph's brothers were unrighteous, but they hated him because first he gave their dad a bad report, and second he told them about dreams where his brothers would bow to him.
3. Zechariah doesnt necessarily say that the Jews will weep for Jesus at his second coming, but it says that when God pours out his "spirit of grace and supplication" upon David's house (Yehuda) and those in Jerusalem "they will mourn for Me whom they have pierced. They will mourn for him as onr mourns for an only son.
God gave Jesus a coat of many colors prior to man's rejection. The coat is us...black, white, yellow, red skin color

We couldn't see the extent of "IT IS FINISHED" the earth quaked the rock split at the foot of the Cross, Yeshua's blood was released by the Roman soldier who pierced his side. While Six hundred years earlier The Ark of the Covenant was moved.. Solomon prepared for its hiding and Jeremiah moved it precisely under the cross yet future! GOLGOTHA.
