Dont be pathetic. Francis wrote every single hit that made Quo popular in the first place. Alan had nothing to do with the bands early success. The core of the band was always Rick and francis, and Alan just had it coming with his stupid alpha male attitude

Just take me was absolutely brilliant. I’m always thinking when these four are playing together, that there’s those who mock quo for being simple. That song was dead right, tight as anything and has a real groove. And spud is a terrific drummer.

    • @markmiwurdz202
      @markmiwurdz202 Před 10 měsíci

@highdownmartin. You may already know this. Apparently Francis Rossi's solo on "Just Take Me" was the original example of the "galloping" guitar break. I believe the boys in Iron Maiden copied the idea in a lot of their tunes!
If you haven't already, check out a Quo tribute band called Big Fat Mama from Sweden. They are all about the Frantic Four era and do a pretty good job IMHO.. You and yours stay safe and well.

Produced by the late / great John Schroeder.
Anyone who met Nuff would know first hand what a beautiful, sweet and charming gentleman he was.
I had the pleasure of socialising with Alan at a few gigs in the late 80's, at some of his gigs with The Lancaster Bombers
and The Lancaster / Brewster Band and The Party Boys, the latter having 2 Chart Topping Hits.

There was absolutely something very special about the Frantic Four!
A specially on the old albums.
Alan was a very good bass player with great grooving bass lines.
But also melodic lines is his speciality,
If you listen to the song “rock and roll” from the just supposing album; great playing.
John was a master in shuffles.
It is a pitty it is all gone
Johns playing is not tight anymore and is slowing down the tempos.
And Alan has his physical problems.

Rossi is a top notch lead. Anyone says otherwise have never played a guitar.

Technically Rossi never had anything out of the ordinary or ground breaking, But he was and still is a really solid 'meat and potato's” lead guitarist. What he did have back then though, in those days at least... was great lead melody. I am sure he bounced ideas off the rest of the band back then to make it so. Always hard to do that. Be he was good at putting those lead melodies together. That era has gone. Never mind. As Pete Townshend said. It's all been done before, there's no new melodies left to write. Oh and I have been playing the guitar for about 45 years. I can even remember a few old Quo songs. 😉
