  • SINGAPORE: The usual peace and quiet at St George's Lane in Boon Keng was disrupted on Thursday evening, when things came crashing down unexpectedly from a seventh-floor HDB flat.
Items including a microwave, a glass tank and even air-conditioner compressors were flung down.
This drew a crowd of about 70 people below the block, curious to find out what the commotion was about.
Royce Choo, one of the residents in the area, said: "I heard some shouting, that he was shouting at a man who was cleaning a vehicle. He said 'hey do a good job' or something like that. Then after that, I heard some things drop down.
"It was clothing, then down came a dust pan, broom, and so I called the police. After which was a glass tank.
"He was all by himself -- he shouting to the people downstairs, and just flinging whatever he can get his hands on, just flinging them down... I think the worse was the glass tank. Lucky, no one was downstairs, and it was a mess below... I haven't seen him before."
Police said they received a call for assistance at around 8.40pm.
When Channel NewsAsia arrived at the scene, Police and Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel were seen clearing up the debris and items believed to have been thrown from the block.
The ground floor area and the seventh-floor unit from which the items were thrown were cordoned off.
    No injuries were reported.
A man has been arrested in relation to the case.
Neighbours said the residents of the flat had only moved in a few days ago.
Madam Ong Ah Yan, a next-door neighbour, said: "They haven't moved in for very long. Just about 10 days ago.
"But my other neighbour has said since they moved in, there were some run-ins with them. They would scold the neighbour and also disturb their potted plants in the corridor... For no particular reason he would scold them. Maybe he was feeling unhappy."
Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
