Bill Murray was also asked to voice Buzz Lightyear, but he lost the producer's phone number; which he regrets because he would have accepted the role.
Also, the success of the movie resulted in a skyrocket of Mr. Potatohead sales; which is what convinced Mattel to let Disney use Barbie in the sequels.

Oddly enough, there actually is a restaurant called Pizza Planet that’s been in business since the 1970s, way before Toy Story. Don’t know of any locations offhand, though.

To think there were so many occurrences that could have altered the film, even in minor ways but I'm so glad it didn't change and we have the film that we have today. I can't thank them enough for making such a happy and creative world that even in old age I will never forget.

Toy Story will always have that special place in my heart. My first favorite movie. In fact I can sum up my childhood in three constant categories: Toy Story, Blue's Clues, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Toy Story will always be my favorite movie. It will always have a friend in me
As a bonus fact: the original theatrical cut of Toy Story, which is also on the VHS and earlier DVD releases, did NOT include the Pixar logo in its opening logos. The movie started immediately after Randy Newman's new Walt Disney fanfare, and the first piece of music in the film follows seamlessly from this fanfare, with no hopping lamp to be seen. Later for the Blu-Ray and 3D theatrical release, the original Disney logo was replaced with the new (at the time) Disney castle sequence, and the Pixar logo was added in as well. This is now the only version of Toy Story that you can officially purchase.
Even though the rest of the Pixar movies after this one DID have the hopping lamp logo, later ones through 2007's Ratatouille continued to use Toy Story's Disney logo and most used Randy Newman's fanfare. When these movies were released on Blu-Ray, they too had their Disney castle logo replaced with the current one.

I respect Pixar so much. As a kid, I wanted to work for Pixar because of all the research and effort that goes in. I watched something about Toy Story and it said that the crew nailed a wooden board to their shoes to feel how the army men walked with the green base.

Also, I was just at Disney World not too long ago and according to my guide map (unless I'm mistaken), that Pizza Planet restaurant mentioned no longer exists at Hollywood Studios (unless it's part of Toy Story Mania).
