Don't forget to head over to Minatura's website, where you'll find that fabulous list of miniature craft's people: miniatura.co.u...
In this episode, I make a start in one of the bedrooms. I have chosen a lovely teal green paint and will be completing this room with a classic range of furniture in antique white. I'll also be sharing a tutorial for a double bed with a silk 'button-hole' headboard, so don't forget to hit the notification button, so you won't miss any of my great tutorials!
I really hope you enjoy this episode and pick up lots of tips for your own projects.
If you enjoy making dolls house furniture and miniatures, you'll love my books, I've published 5 so far and they're all available to purchase from Amazon - just search for Julie Warren - or you can order them from my Etsy shop.
Thank you for watching.
Happy Miniaturing!
Julie. xx
I took my "second hand" dollahouse in to pieces, eysier to paint and put wallpapiers and flooring. I just started my dollhouse projeck tree weeks ago ( I have been collecting all smal items about ten yers for this pension projeck, now I have time to make dream try ) and I have learned a lot just waching Julie's vidoes, thank you so much for sharing, I'll use your metods.
And what I can tell, hunger get bigger, I want to do more and more... bigger dollhouse, more furniture and small items, in different styles...
Sorry my english, if I made mistakes in writing.
I wish all the best for everyone dollhouse- builders all over the word, greetings from Finland.
I'm so glad you've picked up lots of useful tips for your own build. I wish you many happy hours of miniaturing! Greetings from the UK. :)
Hello Julie. Thanks to your wonderful tutorials I've made two chimney breasts with openings, one for the dining room and the kitchen for my agar and covered it with 'cobbled stone' paper and brick paper in the dining room and they look really good 👍. Two down two to go 🙂. I even found a fire inset rummaging through my boxes, it fit like a glove.
I made the chimney breasts from the bottom part of an old drawer, I scored it and just bent it round carefully to get the sides and didn't have to glue them on. (I measured everything first from a template as you showed) Bingo! 🙂
Love your house ❤
Take Care
Thanks Beverley, I'm glad you found the tutorials helpful. :)
The wood floor looks so natural. Love it
Thank you! 😊
Hello Julie. Me again lol. I found the fireplace surround paint g tutorial. Tada. Thank you. So much
Charming woman. Great work.
Thank you kindly!
My first time to watch. Fantastic, can’t wait too see next episode.
Thank you. Do be sure to take a look at the earlier episodes. :)
I just recently found your videos. I’m building my first dollhouse and I love how you carefully explain things. Such a beautiful lady with a beautiful soothing voice ! Great job !
Thank you so much, Heather. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos.
Julie Warren you’re so welcome my dear 🌹
Beautiful color!!! What a wonderful website page!!! That is wonderful to be able to find so many artist in one place!!!
Thanks Sarah. Thanks, too, for popping over to Minatura, it really is a great page.
I have learned how inflexible I have become by painting dolls house rooms. Lol. Quite a bit of acrobatics involved. I feel I need to do a bit of stretching before hand. Excellent job as usual! Love the colors and patterns you’ve chosen.
I know what you mean! With a tripod in the way too, I must look really funny when I'm doing it! I hope nobody looks in when they go by! :)
I used my woodburner to put "nail-holes" & "worm runs" & "wood knots", etc in each or sporadically board...I have a new grand baby, a lil girl finally...I'm going to be making her a dollhouse to take home & play with and another bigger one for when she's older ;-) I'm so excited!!! LOVE watching your videos!!!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos. Good luck with your Granddaughter's dollhouse. :)
That is a LOVELY room, Julie!!! And oh that flooring!!!
Thanks Pat. I am pleased with how the flooring turned out.
Every video you post is better than the last. I love the way the bedroom is coming along. I am not a "blue" person, but I love the color you have chosen for the walls. Walnut is one of my favorite finishes too. I am so excited to see what is in store next for your Dolls House. I have watched every video in your diary. I cannot tell you what it means to someone like me (a beginner) to watch your detailed videos. I have learned so much. You truly have found your calling!
Thank you so much, Heather, that's so lovely to hear. I'm glad you're enjoying this series, I'm really enjoying working on the dolls house again after leaving it standing for so long! :)
There needs to be a love button! OMGOSH! SO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT DIARY EPISODE! The color is so fresh and crisp looking! Wow....Beautiful!
Thank you so much, Cindy, I'm glad you're enjoying this episode.
Julie, your room is looking gorgeous. I love your fireplace!
Thanks Beth.
JULIE, it is so exciting and beautiful!
Thank you so much, Diane.
Room is looking lovely! You are so talented. Every time I see the crochet I’m amazed! Thank you for the inspiration.
I’m a third of the way through brick cladding the outside of my new house so I’m looking forward to decorating the inside using your tutorials as help
Thank you so much, I'm glad this series is helping you with your own project.
You. Are. Absolutely. Amazing. I know I’m home when I hear your cheery, “Hello!”
These video tutorials and all you share with us mean so much to me. I’m not sure everyone knows all the hard work that goes into creating, recording and editing these videos in addition to your design work. I have yet to make my first miniature; I’ve been too timid. You are my inspiration. Thank you!
Thank you so much, that's very lovely to hear. I do hope you'll start creating soon and with you the best of luck on your Miniature Journey! :)
That room is lovely. You always do a great job. I am looking forward to you using the fabric paper and the staircase tutorial. Thank you for introducing us to Minitura.
Thanks Michelle, I'm glad you enjoyed this episode. Thank you for popping over to the Miniatura website. :)
It’s lookin AWESOME!!!! I LOVE the teal color!!! I love his workshoppe! I would so make it into a Craft room! Have a Great Day!
Thanks Jan.
Great Episode! It was so encouraging to see you work through the challenges that come along with decorating a tiny home. From the paint mishaps to the gaps and filler repairs, it made me realize that those are all apart of the beautiful process!
Thanks Gretchen. You're absolutely right - nothing ever goes perfectly, but sorting it all out is part of the fun of this hobby - you learn so much! :)
Lovely to have a tutorial, I have muddled through and got things quite wrong sometimes. Everything has taken me ages, but it definitely helps to watch someone who knows what she is doing !
Thanks Angela, I'm glad you found this video helpful. :)
F
The room looks amazing. You have a great eye for colors.

Room is looking Beautiful Julie !
Thanks Martha. :)
Love the room! And thank you for the link to Miniatura...that will save me from having so many individual web sites booked into my "favorites" list!
Thanks, Lucy. Thanks for popping over to Minatura Online, too. It really is a useful page. :)
It’s looking AMAZING! Can’t wait to see it come together!
Thank you, Deanna. I'm excited to share my ideas with you.
I liked it so much I watched it twice!
Thank you so much, that's lovely!
Wonderful refreshed look! Great job.
Thanks Chris.
I really enjoyed the episode, I was mesmerized from beginning to end. The room is beautiful, love the teal walls and the accent wall. What a lovely job you did with the fireplace! Thanks so much for sharing your talent and your projects! :)
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I can't wait to start putting the furniture in.
@@JulieWarren --- We are looking forward to it! I am currently staying at my elderly mother's apartment, so it is difficult to do minis with my workshop left behind in my apartment, so it is nice and relaxing for me to (albeit vicariously) get involved in the creation of minis by watching you. :)
This room is so lovely. Beautiful color choices. I'm also partial to walnut floors. I'm very glad you liked my tip about using the tiles to help add weight to the corners. I've even used some old bricks on top of them to be sure the corners don't lift!!! Looking forward to seeing how successful you'll be printing on fabric. I've bought some of the printable fabric but haven't gotten around to using it yet. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for that tip, it saves the corners from lifting up! I'm looking forward to using the printable fabric. It seems a little thin, but we'll see how we get on with it. :)
Ah, but isn't it fun to empty the entire pantry into the dollhouse to hold down the floor?
So looking forward to this. And teal is my favourite colour! 💖
Thank you, Carrie, I hope you'll enjoy it.
Wonderful room! Lovely colour combination. I have finally found a place to procure fireplace surrounds at a great, affordable price..........ironically, the seller is located in England! The surrounds are cast resin, (and look amazingly like yours) and they have some slight irregularities, but considering the affordability, it is worth a bit of "finishing" to make them a bit more "perfect". Thanks for the tips in this episode - a few things you covered will save me a bit of grief in the future.
Thanks George. I'm glad you found some of my tips useful.
Love the wall color and the floor. Perhaps you could make some block candles out of clay to put in the fire place?
That's a nice idea. I thought about doing that for the study, too. :)
it all looks gorgeous 😍! I have started my shed and it goes OK - I'm waiting for a parcel from your etsy shop.🌸
Thank you. Good luck with the shed, they are so much fun to build and fill! :)
Would love to see a video on how you make the little blanket wpuld love to me one for my doll house 💕💕
If you look back through my videos, you'll find one for a crocheted granny square blanket. I hope you'll enjoy it. :)
@@JulieWarren thank you I will look through now see if I can find it xx
I love the flooring it looks so professional, I really need some help with the door casings as mine looked terrible so I removed them now I do not know what to use to make new door casings, Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated since this is my very first dolls house and it is not new it is second hand and was a real mess when I started it the internal doors did not fit some were cut way too short and some way too big and badly screwed in hinges some holding on with nails that split the casings so I removed them all to start again, Thanks in advance crafty friends xx
I shall be making and fitting door surrounds and doors in an upcoming episode of My Dolls House Diary. Once the decorating is complete, I shall make a start on the doors. :)
@@JulieWarren Thanks Julie, I shall wait then, I have been so worried because I haven't got a clue how to make the casing's, Thanks Julie xx
Do you put items in your drawers and cabinets with solid doors, refigerators, etc. Thanks. Great look!
I only put miniatures in if I intend to have the door or drawer opened permanently, or if there are glazed doors. :)
I love the colors! For the wallpaper, is that actual wallpaper or scrapbook paper? I have seen folks use scrapbook paper to save cost. What do you think?
Thanks Sarah. This is actual wallpaper, but yes, scrapbook paper works well, too. :)
Hi, question ❓ do you find it difficult to paint or paper a room in an already built doll house? I'm wondering if I should paint or paper before building my doll house. Any tips for this? Thank you.
I like to paint and paper inside the room, as I think it's more precise. As you work your way through my dolls house diary videos, you'll find one where I show you how to create a template to cut your wallpaper to size before sticking it into place - sorry I can't remember now which episode it it!
Nice..
Thanks
Hi Julie I've got a fire place and it's not level do you think I could sand it it looks like the 1 you have x
Hi, yes, you can sand them. Use a finer grade paper, be gentle and just do a little bit at a time, so you don't take too much off. :)
This was great, Julie, a very enjoyable episode. Really looking forward to seeing you use the computer photo fabric too. I'd been considering buying it myself, but I've never actually seen anyone use it & my history with the similar computer printed t-shirt images wasn't good (I had it all under control until they completely changed them without telling me LOL). Btw did you get the cotton photo fabric or the silk one?
Thanks Joanne. I got the cotton fabric, it doesn't seem very thick, but we'll see how we go. I'm looking forward to trying it, too. :)
Hi Julie please could you advise me as to where the best place to buy a dolls house I have been watching a lot of your videos any advice would be great I would really like a good quality large one as only want to buy once loving your videos really informative thank you
Hi Lesley, the company my dolls house came from is no longer going, sadly, and other than that I haven't had any experience with other companies. I can tell you that Dolls House Direct do some lovely houses and Maple Street stock the Sid Cooke range, which are also really lovely designs and good quality. I hope that helps.
Прошу прощения,а корпус домика из фанеры? И толщина 10см.?
Yes, the house is made from plywood and the walls are 10mm thick.
Да простите 10мм!! Я ошибся!!! Спасибо вам большое!!!
I have been trying to find the beginning of this diary. Does it start with part 1?
Yes. Look at her Playlist and you will find all the episodes under dollhouse diary
Thanks Quinell! :)
@@JulieWarren You're more than welcome!
Thanks finally found where it started. Thanks for sharing this. When I was little my uncle used to make chalet style doll houses. I always wanted one but he would never make one for me. I was so mad. Now if I want to do this I have to buy my own. I have always loved decorating and interior design so this really interests me.
Matt is such a sweetie! ❤️. In other news, what is in Julie's pantry?! 😜
He's not a bad old stick! Not that I'm stock piling tins or anything! :)
@@JulieWarren I have a man like that. Always willing to help. (He even will ask me "am I listening or am I fixing?" 😜)
Chipwood not mdf😋
I stand corrected!
I’ve been peeling wallpaper for days! I hate it!
It is a slow old job! :)
Well hello handsome 😏, he’s very nice looking!
Thank you.
I am VERY disappointed you painted over that beautiful brick. I hate that about contemporary interior design: utter disrespect for things that have stood the test of time.
It’s brick paper! This is a Dolls House! 🙄
Surely Julie can do whatever she wants with her dolls house!
