My husband was a Harley rider for many years. He passed away unexpectedly this summer. I cry when I listen to this song and watch this video. I like to imagine that when I die I'll find myself walking along a highway like this one and he will come roaring up on his Harley and we'll ride off. Rest in peace my handsome angel...
I am so sorry for your loss honey
Went to my first concert in 1977 at the Checker Dome in St. Louis. Got to my seat, sat down, and Missouri started playing "Movin On". Takes me back there every time I hear it.
They were my first concert to,them and Nazareth.😁
I was there! CHECKERDOME!
Yes those were definitely better times and better music
Song got me through some rough times

I`m from Kansas City, these guys & Shooting Star wers two of my favorite bands back in the late 70`s early 80`s
True
Mom use to play this on record when I was growing up along with Head East another great band. My aunt had a band at her bar they sang this song did a awesome job at it ! denim and lace is the band.
Saw Missouri in 79' when I was stationed at Ft Riley, Ks. One of the tightest sets I've seen to this day. They should have made it big but just kind of got caught between the 70s & 80s. Movin' On is still one of my favorite driving songs...
Yeah I wish they could have gone further with their music
I saw them at a "Super Jam" at the old Busch Stadium in 77' or 78'! They rocked the place! And they were like the least known and paid band of the 9 or 10 that played that day! "One day soon...I'll stop my searching...find a girl and settle down"....Damn it still has not happened! I miss the 70's very much! Any of us who were my age were blessed to have matured throughout that decade! Eh??? Bette than the rat trap we all mire in these days! Proud to be from the "314 or as some people call it the LOO"! Peace Out!!!!!
This Is a Groovy Song Was Trucking When This Came Out { Lot Of Truth in This } 10-4 Great Band Pray For Peace 10-4
Good, excellent jam. Remember when came out before concert. Gravel roads were jamming in Missouri people.
I'm from Missouri & I used to own couple thier vynil albums, actually meet a women, said she had 2 brothers in this band used to go one tour with them, said it was a wild time especially for a young teenager like herself!
One of my all-time favorite work-out songs....you don't realize how beautiful missouri is until to ride the KT trail west from defiance or drive 94 to jeff city....especially in the fall.....awesome state, even better song.
One of the best bands ever in my opinion! I listen to this song every morning to get my happy on for the day!
I bought their first Album. I`m from Missouri and they were underated but a great band for sure.
Saw them in Rapid City south Dakota with several other bands, and Missouri took the show, awesome live...
Great song
Born and raised in southeast Missouri, 1970s was my teen yrs. had you on 8track with a 40watt amp. And a pair of mind blower speakers in the back deck of our 2door skylark, jacked up in the back with traction bars, hooker headers and cherrybomb exhaust three on the tree yea boy!
So good used to rock out to this 50 years ago ran 18 wheels for 50 years accdent free 10-4
Just heard this, how in the world did I miss this?
Grew up in the 70's and 80's in NW FL. on Southern Rock. I'm glad I did miss it cause I got me a new fav.
Vincent, Hope your moving away from the beach. Up in the woods away from the Tourons and where the Good People Live. Like Us.
I was raised in Mo (O'Fallon) I remember when this song came out. I was in my 1st yr of high school. We cruised the main street to this song. I love Mo., it'll always be home. I'm living in NW Florida now. I miss home!
@@TheZookeeperinaltha You and I are "Trading Places" I now live in Mo. Willow Springs. Used to live in Wewa and Panama City
@@JayRuperRoe Small world. I'm close to Wewa. It's a 15 min drive right down hwy 71. I'm just a couple miles north of Blountstown. You're down in the Ozark Mountains... Beautiful in that area especially in the Fall! We have traded places! I've been here 22 yrs. How long have you been in Mo.?
@@TheZookeeperinaltha Ha Ha Ha. I've been here 21.5 years. Moved into our house mothers day 1999. I grew up on the Dead Lakes, fishing and trapping. I do miss the fishing, but like you said, especially this time of year it's beautiful here.
Great song, I love listening to it while going on a long drive!
This regional hit should have made it nationwide. One of the greatest of all time.
This band had it all very versatile sound was mixed perfectly i lived in missouri it was a hard place to make a living wore out the 8 track music raised the hair on my head and brought back great memories had to leave missouri, had to move on! ordered the cd West was a genius.
The "Old School monster truck video, Monster Mania" lead me to the music of Missouri. It baffles me that they weren't t bigger than they were. Least I found them and have come to really dig their music.
Drove a cab for over 20 and this song kept me company many a slow night.
Seen them in Springfield sometime around '78-'79. They opened for a band called "Morning star", and totally blew them away. :D
The lead singer of Missouri and 2 of the guys in Morning Star are brothers, lol! The West brothers!
@The Hillbilly Motoshow - Pretty sure you mean Shooting Star. Gary West was lead singer for SS and brother of Ron West, the lead singer for Missouri. Gary, Ron, and Stephan West were all members of The Chessman prior to forming SS and Missouri.
They did a "Summer Jam" in Great Bend KS. Van Halen, Head East, Missouri, Black Oak Arkansas, Climax Blues Band, Morningstar, Stillwater, Wet Willie, Alvin Lee and Ten Years Later, Rick Derringer and a couple others.
Heard this song a lot when I stationed at Ft Leavenworth 1978-79.
Missouri and Shooting Star playing 9/17/22 in my area. Still rockin!! 🤘
LOVE this song. Story of my life.
I remembered this song from my childhood. It was always in the back of my mind. I heard it on the radio the other day, and have been listening to it almost nonstop, since.
drove many a mile in the big truck jammin to this years ago
My favorite one hit wonder from the hey day of Southern Rock...
Great song and Iove it! Missouri boy in spirit but had to get away and see the world. that I did twice over.
I saw them in 1978 or '79 in Great Bend Kansas believe it or not. Van Halen, Head East, Missouri, Black Oak Arkansas, Climax Blues Band, Morningstar, Stillwater, Wet Willie, Alvin Lee and Ten Years Later, Rick Derringer and a couple others.
Wow, this one goes way back! Lots of memories!
Makes you want to hit the road and hammer down!
Only one man in the way.

When is this going to be in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie? The franchise director and writer, James Gunn, is from St. Louis, which is why the soundtracks always sorta sound like a K-SHE 95 playlist.
Anyone know the highway(s) featured in the video? What a great open road to be movin' on!
Pretty sure it's not here in Missouri, appears to be in the southwest. I believe it's from the movie 'Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man' ...not sure if it was intentional but Mickey Rourke looked very similar in it to Micheal Parks the star of 'Then Came Bronson'
Are you really doing this?
Minsky's pon Main...bass playa....workin a dish wash gig!
Politics? My not a joke remark. "Hughes Aircraft was a very private company."
+1
i love this song!
I love you Tim Weaver
