    Empty cardboard boxes are the best -
    you can push them, pull them, chew them, tear them, wear them as a hat, hide inside them, stack them up, and topple them down. (and the're great for bunnies too!)

    My classroom is full of Amazon boxes! The kids cut doors and windows in them and each table has an Amazon box. Our classroom free roam bunny goes from Amazon box to Amazon box. The children are quiet workers becuase they want our bunny to come to their house and she loves to nibble on the boxes. She LOVES the children and greets them at the door each morning.

    I've been using all those DIY toys except the paper towel rolls sometimes have glue residue and I'm not sure about that. If you get really new cones and twigs it's good to bake/roast them for a little while to dry them down and remove any sap. My boys love them too and I'm always looking for new ideas. I find myself wandering around outside thinking, "If I was a bunny ..."

    Sometimes bunnies will make their own free toys. Like my Cola bunny, she tore a bunch of material out of the carpet until there were large bald sections and had a blast digging through the resulting ball of fuzz... Ok, not so free, it totally cost me my damage deposit... But on the plus side, Cola did totally enjoy herself.

      I have been given bunnies from people because of aggression (they usually have small children in the family).
      Aggression usually comes from fear and is a defense technique - especially with my females. When they attack, I use a cheap plastic water bottle (empty) as a discipline tool, lightly smack in front of them while saying no in a deep forceful tone. Then talk to them softly for a few seconds and then offer them sunflower seeds from a shallow dish.
      They really hate the sound of the crinkling plastic.
      Make sure you scoop their food and treats with your hands as they can smell you with their food, so they become used to you and link you to food.
      I raise and breed wooler rabbits to spin their wonderfully soft fiber, so being able to have prolonged contact is a must. One of my favorite rabbits,Midnyte, came from a family because of extreme aggression. I've had her for 2 years and she comes running to greet me. I just love her.

    • @Farzeen.
      @Farzeen. Před 7 lety +2

      Hi..best thing to do in this case is to leave a few scraps of the newspaper in between the bedding, or even place a few neatly folded papers in their cage/play area for him/her to chew. It may look a bit untidy, but I found that these methods help and its better than them ripping the newspaper from underneath. Once theyve chewed the paper, just throw it out and replace it every day. Works with my two bunnies :) Best of luck.

    • @reja9513
      @reja9513 Před 7 lety +1

      Abigail Wiler my bunny does that and there's nothing you can do to correct that behavior because bunnies are impulsive diggers. best thing to do is just put a layer of bedding and a layer of hay on top and to stop putting newspapers in the litter box. or you can buy a wire flooring to put in the litter box that is a few inches off the floor so your bunny can't reach the newspaper

    I put a cardboard box in my Bunny’s cage. He tosses it, turns it over, and sometimes has a chewing frenzy on it. The toilet paper rolls: my Bunny loves for me to hide his letters and parsley in the middle and leave one end open. He tosses, digs at it, rolls it, until he finally knocks the “goodies” loose. Other than the “binky-bunny-dance” and free-run of the bedroom, those are a couple of favorite activities for my Bugs Bunny.

He’ll chew on it for a bit and then run in circles then goes right back to it! Thanks for these awesome tips!!!

    My bunny is super picky with toys, but loves to toss around and tug at strips of paper that have been coiled into a spring shape. He also loves to toss around the cardboard tubes mentioned in this video.

    Some Pine cones/ twigs can have stuff on them which is harmful for your bunny. Steps to clean them:
    Step 1
    Wash the pine cones in a sink full of warm water and 1 cup vinegar. Using your hands, make sure to scrub off any dirt, sap, or bugs on the cones.
    Step 2:
    Let the pine cones soak for 20 to 30 minutes in order to remove any remaining sap or bugs that is stuck on them.
    Step 3:
    Prepare a place for the pine cones to start air drying by laying down some paper towels.
    Step 4:
    Rinse the pine cones thoroughly with fresh water and then place them on the paper towels to dry.
    Thank you for reading this comment.

    My dad brings different tree twigs/branches in spring And stick them in the ground in the garden as if they were little trees so my rabbits would have to get up to get them ^ ^ They love all kinf of trees/leaves. Well, T least before, now one of my babies passed away but i think My dad will still do it for the other one.
