It would've been so humiliating for Miss Colombia she reacted way better than I expect and I could ever (although it was unnecessary that she fights the crown later on) and I also feel bad for Miss Philippines, there was no way she could've been happy with her whole heart or celebrate it, that year was honestly a bum for (I guess) everyone
Pia is such a real athlete, she noticed that Miss Columbia was so disappointed. She even went after to look for her on the stage. I remembered seeing the scene
Colombia* why cant anyone spell it right- 😭😭😭😭
Because there's a lot of places in the US that were named after Christopher Columbus so in turn a lot of our spelling says Columbia versus Colombia. And when doing voice-to-text in North American English that's how it spells.

The Philippine girl looked happy as hell that she was the one who won 💀
I respected Steve because in one of his interviews he addresses the situation. He said that he did read the card right but the producers had it wrong, so they were going to ignore it and address it the next day, but Steve said no, he’ll go out and speak up about it. Although it hurts, I’m glad he did what he did
It was an awful situation for the young woman. That contest is the jump off point of careers.
I don’t know. Honestly…..I don’t know if it was better to just do it the way they did & humiliate one young woman….while putting a dark cloud over the win of another - or if it would have been better to take them both aside after the show, explain what happened, and figure out the best way to handle it with everyone being on the same page. Either way is problematic. Either way, one young woman has her dreams stripped away, and another never has the chance to really experience her win. Both women were given their dreams, but both also experienced an enormous loss.
Personally, I think they should have waited. I don’t think it should have been part of the show. And I recognize that regardless of when they did it, the outcome would be the same…..but it shouldn’t have happened that way. I know that the true winner should have been given her moment on that stage, and if they’d waited, she never would have had it. More people would have seen the show, than would have seen the follow up announcement where they corrected it. But, did she really get her winning moment onstage? They took the crown off of the head of the wrong winner, and put it on her head…she watched that girl’s heart break into a million pieces in order for her to get her moment. There just wasn’t a way for anyone to really win after that. Psychologically & emotionally, I just think this was the worst way to handle it.
Absolutely... He did the right thing!
@@DrAnderson1 I wished there was a way to handle this situation in a way where they all won, but this was one of those situations where it would have been a problem all around, and people would still pass their judgments regardless. Because even if they did waited, although feelings were hurt, the real winner wouldn't have been able to celebrate the same way. Im sure she didn't. Situations like this happens all the time; I wished we had the same empathy is all situations like this, but its not the case all the time. If anything this could be some sort of lesson, even a humbling one for the producers, contestants, and audience. It does hurt a lot, but Im just saying, it takes a lot of confidence for a man to speak up and out about it because even he was harshly accused and picked on. And you never know what could have happened after the show and what happened to the one who didn't actually win. Notice we only focus on her and not the real winner? Even if they waited, I'm sure there would be people who ask; "Why didn't they just leave it alone?" It would be unfair all around. Im still glad over the real winner because she's still being stripped away from the spotlight. It's a sticky situation but it's really unfair being pitiful instead of giving it to the real winner. The one I truly feel bad for because she's still not in the spotlight. So congrats to her and her composure.
That takes guts to be that blunt as @steveharvey in that moment, but he was right to do it then...I think?? All of it was just so sad for everyone involved ( especially the 2 girls)
Colombia’s dress was perfection
Tbh these comps should end. People can’t let this define how beautiful they are. Literally all of them are so beautiful 😍
I still don’t understand how they could make such careless mistakes when the winner is supposed to be inside of the envelope! In my opinion, both of them should be crowned just for that alone! It’s a disappointing moment for both girls. Shame on these people!
It's like your asking someone to share their boyfriend! I believe winner takes it all.
@@dogrina4831 Your beliefs are invalid

@@kristielynn7349 honestly i think that miss universe did that on purpose for views or whtvr like how can they make such mistake-
Til this day, I don’t understand how he could’ve made such a big mistake. From both of their perspectives, to have something they worked so hard for be ripped away from them but also be given to them must’ve been a ROLLERCOASTER of emotions
If you saw how he holds the card you would see why he fucked up. He was holding the card with his right hand I think and his thumb covered the actual winner (which is miss Philippines). Since it was his first time hosting that kind of competition he didn’t know that 1st runner up was actually the second runner up. He thought first runner up was the actual winner since you know it’s 1st. His thumb covered the thing that says Miss Universe 2015 with Philippines at the bottom so he thought Miss Colombia was the miss universe. I think that was what happened I saw it on a video once explaining why he made a mistake.

Steve fucked that up so bad damn you reading off a card messed up 🤬🤬🤬
That poor girl. I can’t imagine the pain after thinking you won. She held back those emotions so well.
This happened to me at senior prom nearly 20 years ago, and I was legitimately so very upset. The girl who did actually win, wasn’t nice about it at all and I was so furious at how she treated me (and my reaction to that was very immature to be honest but holy moly was I hurting ).
What I experienced was on an infinitely smaller scale but I can absolutely still remember how it felt and can only imagine the magnitude of how She felt up there, in that moment. So happy to see the graciousness of women sticking together and uplifting one another ❤️❤️❤️
That’s how the universe can move for you. The filipino girl even took her initial loss so well and she seemed genuinely happy for Colombia.
Okay but that doesn’t make any damn sense how can you tell the columbian wouldn’t be happy for the other girl its most likely its out of shocking not guilt

Right after that, another candidate came out and called out Miss Colombia saying that the Latinas were making fun of other Asians days prior to the event.
Edit: I forgot to add that when Ms. Philippines was crowned, she tried to comfort Ms. Colombia and the other candidates told her to step back. There are also reports saying that she(Ms. Philippines) was being bullied but Idk if that was true, though.

I know she didn't really win the crown, but the news she lost, must have felt 10 times worse when they removed the crown (she hadn't officially won 🙄) from her head.
Steve announced the wrong winner, so basically Colombia didn't win and they took back the crown that wasn't meant for her in the first place.
Yes it’s so humiliating and of course the camera zooms in on her to see how she’ll react and she has to try so hard to hold her composure and fake a smile when all she wants to run and cry. So wrong.
They could've handled it differently, maybe taken a commercial break. Tell the ladies first. Something other than "Oh I made a mistake" gimme that crown back! She probably felt mortified.
She never won. Just got someone else's crown for a min before they realized the mistake
Sad to say Colombia didn’t win. She never did, she never won. The judges knew who was the winner and they jumped from their seats in shock that Steve announced Colombia. Harvey made a very unfortunate mistake. There’s been a lot of interviews on YT from diff parties who knew the winner before it was announced.

I think in pageants they usually announce second runner up then first runner up, but he saw a final name and announced her as the winner instead of first runner up. Still a terrible mistake though, to be sure.
So the story is Steve Harvey the announcer of the winner when going over the performance said that before there was always one name on the card to read and it was the winner but at the ceremony it said runner up and winner and because Steve didn’t know this he read the first name he saw.
