Saving Nightcrawler is the good ending. Saving him is the main objective. Jean Grey didn't die and she'll come to her senses just like she did when Arcade controlled her and like her echo did in this battle. It just looks like a bad ending, because it's a cruel trick. I tried timing it to open both cages on two controllers, pulling the cage over the ledge by throwing a spear at it and using telekinetic powers, and anything else I could think of.
I like your view of the story, I didn’t know you were able to use the spear or telekinesis that way on the console version... or I never tried it at least.
It can be tricky to keep a spear that long, but you can drag the cage over the ledge with it once it gets stuck on the cage. Not the weirdest glitch I've found. On the PS4 version (and probably every other version), you can cause all kinds of glitches in Valhalla's Warrior Hall by jumping on the sitting vikings heads and moving them in the way of the walking vikings. Once you get a viking walking around in the air high enough, all kinds of things can happen.
In the sequel Nightcrawler never apparer, but in the black order Jean and Nightcrawler are playable characters, but in the xbox edition of the first game Nightcrawler is a playable character
I went with Jean Grey because I assumed Nightcrawler could save himself by teleporting. Also, let's be honest, wouldn't Jean be more of an asset against a really powerful bad guy?
Dude I remember playing this level with my dad and we were torn on whether to save Jean Grey or Nightcrawler lol. I wanted to save Nightcrawler cus he was cool and had teleportation powers but my dad knew Jean Grey was powerful so he wanted to save her lmao. Brings back the good ol' memories.
It's a shame that the second part of this game completely broke away from the plot and decided to make a non-linear version :(, but in my childhood I thought that Galactus would become the main antagonist in the second part, but the creators decided to make a civil war, which upset me, and as for the third part, it's generally funny when the first and second parts went for realism
I always wondered if saving both of them was ever possible on console, this was the closest I got. But I guess I killed them both as well, I’m not totally sure. 🤷♂️

MUA1 is much more pervasive than MUA2. MUA2 is Civil War and a new original story over halfway through and that's it. MUA1 extends across Marvel's diverse universe from Earth to Skrullos, from Mephisto's Realm to Asgard and everything in between. It's a much better story. MUA2 is brighter tho. More campy. And the character selection is a little more diverse.
I remember playing this when I was a kid and I remember it so differently 😅 I swear the room was bright and white and it was save mystique or night crawler
Honestly I have no clue, I guess the contract between Activision and Disney to keep these games on the PS, Xbox, and Steam stores expired. A shame really.

sorry for very long reply but yeah glad for you that you own this version i still own my very original PS2 disc and the X360 disc which sadly REFUSES to play on my Series X.. But i won't be surprised if shit disney is a factor on why this game or X-MEN Legends 1, 2 Never got a good remastered or port treatment sadly at least the PC version got everything about them better it really i a crime not having updated versions for X-LEGENDS series and this MUA really don't care too much for MUA2 and 3 prefer X-men legends 1,2 a billion of times much more
Nah not really, We got powerhouses that can take on the Dark Phoenix like Thor, Silver Surfer, And Ms Marvel. Plus Mr Fantastic can easily create a device to calm down her temper-tantrum, I would say the hulk But hulk can fight the dark phoenix too but he would quickly get incinerated to ashes unlike wolverine cause of his adamantium skeleton. If Jean grey is saved instead then Mystique gets pissed off that her son nightcrawler dies, Kills Charles Xavier, and the whole X-men team disbandons.

The PS4, Xbox One, and Steam versions of the game (when they were out) automatically came with the old DLC packs that you had to buy when they came out on the Xbox 360 and PS3. At least that’s how I remember it, it’s been a while since I’ve played.

The Mephisto’s Realm clip stated that Jean Grey had died, although I think it switches sometimes. I’m not totally sure.
I mean I just used magneto to hold the other cage in place and no mention of either x-men dying occured in Valhalla or the end credits
Best to save Nightcrawler or Mystique will kill Xavier and the X-Men will disband forever in the bad ending.
