Love the collaboration between the 'older' and 'younger' hands, showcasing their respective restoration skills. Great work as always.
I almost want to say that this was a project taken on by someone other than the main guy on this channel.
The thing that I really like about this channel is every restoration actually feels like a restoration that preserves a feeling of an old object, with imperfections like pitting on metal, weird old texturing on wood etc. That's not to say channels like my mechanics are not impressive, with that guy I am blown away in every video by the fact he turns an old thing into something that looks like it's brand new. It's just that I prefer it when some quality of "vintageness" is preserved, like with this heater - some amazing work has been done here and it is obviously perfectly functional, but it looks like an antique piece worthy of being exhibited in a museum, not like something that came off a conveyor belt last monday.
One thing I "dislike" about my mechanics is the use of the mirror finish, I understand why he does it and it's absolutely a show of brilliant craftsmanship. But it makes the metal look a bit like plastic sometimes
Kitty timestamps:
7:13 Resting catto
7:36 ~ some scritches and head patting for Avril
And that's one more reason housekeeping was hard decades (and centuries) ago. Ironing clothes meant smoking your hand.
Thanks for the video! Awesome work as always! May God bless you!
😻
I love old irons. I have my grandmother's iron that she would set on the stove to heat. I might restore it one day. As always a great restoration!
У меня целая коллекция старинных утюгов. Есть с загрузкой угля, есть монолитные. Все чугунные, тяжеленные!
Что-то в них есть.
For such few parts to repair, your workmanship is excellent. This has been one of the most enjoyable restorations to date. Nice that you restored the handle as opposed to crafting a new one. I am a woodworker (as well).
I always really like when they deep fry the metal. It gives me joy.
Love Avril, you got the purrfect garage kitty right there. Not like mine, where she just lays on the whole project; usually electronics repairs by the way. hahaha
She's HELPING!
Только подошву не просто шлифовать нужно было, но и полировать.
Lovely work. I think my seamstress wife would prefer a slight bevel or rounding on the plate circumference to get rid of that slightly rough edge so it doesn’t snag fine fabrics. We love old irons, too!
Your videos are so restful and interesting. The perfect way to unwind after a day in the office. Thank you for sharing.
The before / after is really really impressive 🤩👍
I always appreciate when restorers try to preserve even the wood.
Gorgeous work as always
Came out really well. I do wish that you would have sanded the ironing part to maybe 2000 grit so it was almost polished. Most iron faces are polished. Makes for smooth ironing.
Awesome, dude! Really beautiful work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Que trabalho lindo. Fico sempre feliz em ver essas restaurações.
I can remember when growing up that charcoal irons were the only option we had.
Very economic if you already have a hot stove.
This iron seems more practical to heat than others I've seen. Great restoration!
It's always a good day when Avril shows up.
He doesn't dare NOT show him at this point. We all know who the channel star is. lol!
Top 3 favorite channels!!!! LABD never disappoints!!! Thanks for sharing your content
I won't lie, seeing that extra hand threw me for a second. One of those, something isn't quite right, moments! 🙃
Between being at 888k subs and the kitty's guest appearance, notice my name and pic, I couldn't help but sub. Nicely done, too. I like that you didn't "restore" the handle, opting for a light sanding and staining. If it's old, keep it old, is my preference.
У моей бабушки был такой в деревне. Спасибо за видео!
my favourite part is always the end where you actually test the product !
this one was a nice blend of 'restore' and 'remake'. Saving that wooden handle was nice...
I am fascinated by your techniques and skill in restoring, what I would say, are historical artifacts. I enjoy your channel immensely. ✌️
Great job. I also restored this one and tried to iron it, it turns out great
J'aime bien vos projets. Encore une fois un très très beau travail. Félicitation, du Québec, Canada.👍🏻🇨🇦
LAPD is so polite. Instead of "these welds are horrendous", he says, "these welds are not original, let's fix them." haha!
Incredible! I need this for my off grid cabin!
I truly enjoy watching this channel. I subscribed after watching your first video and patiently wait for new ones. Of all I've seen here, the wheelbarrow restorations are my favorite so far. I like that you reuse what you can. It reminds me of a saying that came from people that lived through hard times. They said "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."
Very nice sir! Life sure used to be a lot smokier!
Wonderful job guys !! Top shelf work all the way !! It works AMAZINGLY well irons that material out like a charm !! 👍👍
Привет! Отлично восстановленный утюг, да еще в рабочем состоянии! Я этим летом на копе взял утюг, только не для углей, а полностью литой, жалею теперь, что не запечатлел ждя истории! Аврелию низкий поклон! Всем добра!
Nice restaration process and really awesome final product.
WOW!!! Works like a brand new one. Great job
I've seen the solid steel ones from back in the day but not this type , nice job on bringing it back to life.
Love your videos, you're very talented!
Yet another beautifully done restoration. It turned out amazing. It must be very rewarding to bring these relics back to life. I am a wood carver, and when I have finished with a piece I have carved, it brings me great satisfaction. Thanks for taking us through the process. ♥️🙏🏼♥️
I love how he takes the time to bring his cat just so we can see him. Absolutely adorable.
Sempre um excelente trabalho. 👏👏👏🇧🇷
I only view these to see Avril - I was not disappointed!
And the bonus is that I get to watch a restoration video that goes from zero to 💯. Thank you!
I have no idea why, but watching you mill bolts, screws, rivets, etc. completely fascinates me! I love all of it, but that part just really grabs my attention.
Parabéns lindo trabalho 👏
Make sure, no amber will slip out of the holes and burn your linen!
🤣🤣🤣
Great job, as always, nice to watch!
👍👍👍
I am amazed at how well it works. Beautifully done on the restoration.
Same for us, it works very well ! 🙂
And you know how to iron a shirt!! Great work! Thanks for sharing
I love that you ironed with it at the end!
Oh my got! I saw the same equipment in the museums, but it still works as it should be.
Thank you so much for keeping the wooden handle, and not replacing it
7:38 wow dude! Looks like you did an awesome job restoring that cat! Well done
I would have loved to see all the pitting from the rust get fixed. Bring it back to a smooth finish
My dad has a collection and I hope your video will help-Thanks. He use to Collect Antique tools, Irons and farming machine.
いつも器用で丁寧な仕事ぶりでカッコいい😎
Grandma had one of these. Heavy as you would expect for something made entirely of iron. Then you looked at the other things she had, like a wooden floor polisher, also maddening heavy, and you would understand why grandpa wouldn't push so hard. His manly face wouldn't make a dent in her heavy fists.
Good restore
Nice one. Liked the knob.
One of the best ones yet
well done. no nonsense restoration.
Hey Guys
I always like it, when you grow a 3rd hand when required...haha
The iron is great
Take care
Fantastic job!!!❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A new video from the legendary LADB, at last.
IDK why, but I love videos that have "Attempt 1 to get thing off. Attempt 2 to get thing off. Attempt 3 to get thing off involved grinding down the head of the screw, because it is coming off right now."
:D
Great job, I got the same one from my grandmother in my country house, I also need to restore it in case of a power outage)))
Good job Arvil's effective supervision... Congratulations...
Another piece of history saved and made beautiful again. They must have loved their modern conveniences!
You two do such beautiful work
Nicely done
amazing!
Nice Video Bro😎💪🏼
Nice Job, well done. And apparently cat certified and Avril approved.
Excellent!
Nicely done, looks great, thanks for the video.
super restoration project 😍 this iron chidhood memory 🥺❤️🔥
Very good restoration 👍👍👍Thank you for sharing. Be safe🇨🇦
Very well done.
We still have one of these and my grandma used it during one of our heavies hurricane. Old but not useless
Hello there, love your guys videos been watching for years. I noticed you used a spoon for the electrolysis. I can't help but wonder if it's stainless steel? If it is please don't use stainless steel It creates a very caustic chemical that you get exposed to.
Beautiful work as always! Hello Avril! 🐱
Hey man you got awesome patient to gonna give the best.
I see love and humility about every process, that wise can be perfection ... 🙂
Igen igy van, udv Ausztraliabol Tibi😊

Think you mean the su*purr*visor 😎
Fenomenal job!!!!!
Awesome vid! And my wife asks you to give Avril extra head scratches
I never stop wondering where they find this stuff and what they do with them afterwards
Hello Labd beautiful restoration beautifully restored well done always like to watch your video
Glad to see you two again. Great restoration of an old Iron, the age of it is older than me by a few years, lol. Is it from the early 1900s?
I think these were produced up till the 50's, my family has some that were made in the USSR
Cool video keep it up
You could always count on avril for support. 😂❤
Thanks for sharing 👍
I remember my grandmother use to have a couple of theses from her childhood 😉
Excellent !👍👏
Excellent looking restoration and you did an amazing job restoring it!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
I was not expecting a special guest 😺

Any differences between darkening with oil or blueing liquid?
