Starting a Home Daycare can be hard while going through the licensing process but it is such a rewarding feeling when you officially get your Daycare License! Hi, I ran both of my programs as a Sole Proprietorship vs an LLC. For insurance, I did that separately as well. My states regulation office gave me a list of Home Daycare Insurances and I called around from there to see what my options were, however you can always google & find an insurer on your own. You're very welcome! You will have to check with your State's Licensing Requirements. Typically windows have to be a certain measurement to escape out of in the case of a fire/emergency & a door leading outside. But every State has different Requirements.

For a small home daycare, is if possible to have 10 kids registered but only care for 8 at a time. But all 10 come just never over ratio

Going to start my own in home daycare, in my state you can have 8 without a license and anything above that you need one. So I’m starting out small and then planning on growing and hiring help/ getting my license

If you want to run an unlicensed home daycare and accept CCDF (program that help families pay for child care) are the requirements/qualifications different vs a license home daycare? Do they still come out and inspect your home if you’re not licensed but want to receive CCDF?

Hi. Great question. Every state is different. I have included a link that you can find out exactly the qualifications you need to start a Home daycare based on your state. But typically most states are looking for past history working with children, (usually either babysitting, working in the childcare field or even being a mom may apply to your state). And also your state, if they require a license will have you take some training hours in things like such as CPR/FA, child safety, etc. before getting your license & usually every 18 months after you are licensed. The 1st home daycare I operated, took me 6 months to be licensed. The 2nd took me 3 months.

Yes! I am pretty sure the state would allow that. Depending on the amount of hours you are open, you may or may not have to become licensed. I would contact your State's Licensing & ask them :)

If you want to be a small home daycare you do not need your landlords permission even if the lease says you cannot run a business out of your home. You just need to send them something in writing.

Most states allow a childcare provider to watch 2 children without a license, however it isn't required. You can go through the entire licensing process & then get children after you become licensed! I hope this was helpful!Thank you for watching & for your question.

Insanely my provance says 2 kids. Which is insane cause alberta is 6 kids its unfortunate your only allowed 2.
